3 Tips to Lose Belly Fat While Eating Out

I think one of the reasons we’re so overweight and obese as a society is because of eating out at restaurants.  The portion sizes are huge, the meals are prepared in oils, or are deep fried, you’ve got baskets of bread, a couple appetizers, 2-3 drinks and a dessert and before you know it, you’ve put away 1000-1500 calories.  In just 1 meal!

But guess what?  You need to look in the mirror because ultimately it’s up to you to control what you put in your mouth at a restaurant. I don’t give a gosh darn if you’re out with friends or not and they laugh at you for skipping drinks and the fried calamari.  You need to make better choices when dining out.

So the video below gives 3 of my best tips to lose belly fat while eating out.  If you want more awesome diet tips, watch this presentation.

Let me know what you think of these tips.  And if you have others to share, I would love to hear about them.

Thanks for the great tips to lose belly fat while eating out. One thing I notice my female clients do, especially when they are out at restaurants in a social situation, is eating the same amount of food as their husbands. One trick I have them do is watch how much he eats and make sure they eat significantly less. Most women do not need to eat as much food as their husband's do but do anyway.

Having worked in restaurants for the last 31 years, I have a little knowledge as to how most restaurants cooked their foods. I almost always order a chicken and or fish meal and then tell them how I need it cooked, same with the veggie of the day..no butter, no salt. I tell them that I am severely allergic to butter and or margarine. Having inside knowledge helps.

Thanks Scott! Another tip for eating out is to have the dressing on the side. I will dip the fork into the dressing and then add salad for a much less portion of dressing with the right amount of flavor. It's amazing how much you have left over when you do it that way.
I've also taken to doing the body-weight workout while I travel. Most hotel gyms are a hazard more than a help but the body-weight workout can be done in such a small amount of space that it's doable in any hotel room. I especially do that if I treat myself. :) It kept me from gaining any weight while I was out of town the last 2 times.

Great post Scott! I especially like the idea of eating something healthy before you go out. Many people starve themselves and don't want to eat before the restaurant for fear of ruining their appetite. Go ahead and forget what your mother taught you.
