100 Straight Push Ups - Abs Uncrunched Show Episode 10
November 26th, 2008 · Filed Under: Abs Exercise
OK, it’s time for my push up test.
The goal, 100 straight push ups.
My initial test was October 5 and I did 52 push ups.
This push up test was filmed on Sunday November 23.
I said October in the video. Oops.
Well, check out the video to see if I made it.
And as always, please share your thoughts and comments.
Have an amazing day.

Scott - Sorry - none of what I saw would count. You did not come all the way up on the movement. Partcials do not count. I am in the Navy and I would score what you did on the PRT as a ZERO!
Try again.

Those have got to be the wort pushups I’ve seen a a while - other than the last 2 which I would say were acceptable.
Do em again with a better range of movement

Ditto, I wouldn’t call those pushups. Start over.

Hey guys, I agree with your assessments.
I didn’t realize that I didn’t come up all the way until I looked at the video. I was going for speed and that messed up my form.
But I wanted to be transparent and put the video up anyway.
I went back and looked at my pre-test and my form was better.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
I will re-do but probably after my pull up test.

Ditto to the other 3. In all push up tests I have done with professional sport, the movement was not complete and would count as 0. Congratulations for transparency and the willingness to listen to feedback and apply it accordingly. That shows me a man who has his EGO in check when he is willing to listen and accept feedback. Look forward to seeing your rerun Scott and congrats on a great publication here. Have an awesome day

Man Scott you got some pretty harsh
critics. Half pushups or not , those
were not easy.
Good job.

You better get to those triple digits bro. You probably burned those triceps out coming with the range of motion you had (it’s all good though). You got me all ready to blog to see if I can handle the 100 push test along with 20 pull ups. I’d probably guess I’d knock that 100 out, but those 20 pull ups may take some work as far as I know I linger around 15 or so.

I thought push-up needed to come all the way back up! Glad to see I was not the only one who thought that. I do 20 pushups a day and if I did them like this, maybe I could do more! Good luck with your re-test. I do appreciate your great website & your honesty.

You must NEVER sacrifice form for speed. Better to do 5 full push ups with good form than 89 badly for bragging rights!
November 26th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Scott,
Honesty speaks volumes as does your transparency.
Thanks for the inspiration.
do it again with proper form and let’s see how many you can do.
I applaud you for your efforts.

Hi Scott,
Congrats on the 6min mile. I bet you can do even better with the stride you have.
Push Ups on the other well…you already know. I did a push up test too a while back. The “rules” said you had to touch your chest to someone’s fist, but no body was around so I used a rolled up mat. Check out all the negative comments I got for that one.
You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu6h75Ohby8
Anyways. Good luck on the pull ups. I did 21 although I’m probably good for 12 right now. The key form me was some cross fit technique where you “swing” a bit. You get a great pre-stretch spring, unlike a dead pull.
Happy Thanksgiving

Scott,
Dude, you are my hero, and brother you’ve got brass cojones for putting yourself on display for the world to see! I respect you for taking the risk. Okay, so your range didn’t pass military grade, but you can still work on form and set another goal.
What I’m taking away from this is about goal settng and perseverance. The new challenge should be for everyone who’s watching. Let’s make this an open challenge.
For anyone that can do at least 50 push ups with good form (now) to get to 100 push ups by New Years. Let’s see those videos! I’m in!!!
Now how about some prizes too!

I love that no matter what you post Scott, you are so REAL.
Looking forward to seeing your 100 kick arse technique push ups very soon

Scott,
I love your blog, I read your emails, and up until I saw that video, I held you in high regard. That was lame. I know you can do better. However, what it has inspired me to to is to try it myself. I will let you know how I fare. You may need to retract that video.

In my opinion those were pretty good, 89 is respectable number. I am interested though how many pushups like this would do those from Navy or professioinal sports…

Hello Scott,
I have no idea how to do a push-up or a squat, and haven’t tried to do a jumping jack in about 30 years…boy am I out of shape!
This little video inspired me to give it a try. For a beginner like me, 5min. sounds doable.
I found the jumping jacks the most difficult part! I pushed myself to do three min. and I was quite winded after two reps!
That sounds pitiful, huh? Well, you gotta start somewhere…
I do believe my New Years’ Health Goals have begun today! Why wait any longer? Start now, and avoid the mashed potato pudge.
Thank you for the inspiration, and for offering a beginner level. I look forward to your future videos.

Hi Caroline,
I wanted to take a moment to congratulate you for trying the 5-minute workout. I’m guessing about 99% of the population doesn’t exercise today because its Thanksgiving. But look at you! You did! Even with 3 minutes you should be extremely proud of yourself. You’ll work your way up and increase your strength and fitness levels in no time.
Please let me know if I can ever help you in anyway. I would love to keep up with your progress.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Scott

Scott:
You are my boy for life! Screw the 89 push ups, bad form or not. Let’s talk about how strong you really are, for taking the constructive criticism. You rock brother!
I know we discussed this challenge a couple of months ago. I began my challenge a little differently than you or the rules stated on the challenge website. However, I let business get in my way around day 61, right before I attended Mike Mahler’s workshop in Vegas.
Dude, spending the weekend training with alpha-beasts like Mahler, Jon Hinds, John Brookfield, Dylan Thomas, Tom Furman, and Mark Phillipi, you need to save all of the strength you have…hehe.
So, I tell you what, let’s talk privately, and raise the stakes, make a challenge, and use that as a little motivation to get to 100.
What’s up, are you in or what?

I’m not going to pile on. I’m sure after reviewing the video you can see where you need improvement.
After watching about every video you’ve put out in the past year my only comment would be to breathe and relax.
To the point, you have managed to motivate countless people including myself.
Reading Carolines comments made me give you an ‘at a boy’. You should be proud of all you’ve done to help improve peoples lives.
One question. Do you think it is realistic to improve your push-up total by that much in only a month?
Thanks again
