I'm not going to pile on. I'm sure after reviewing the video you can see where you need improvement.
After watching about every video you've put out in the past year my only comment would be to breathe and relax.
To the point, you have managed to motivate countless people including myself.
Reading Carolines comments made me give you an 'at a boy'. You should be proud of all you've done to help improve peoples lives.
One question. Do you think it is realistic to improve your push-up total by that much in only a month?
Thanks again

Scott:

You are my boy for life! Screw the 89 push ups, bad form or not. Let's talk about how strong you really are, for taking the constructive criticism. You rock brother!

I know we discussed this challenge a couple of months ago. I began my challenge a little differently than you or the rules stated on the challenge website. However, I let business get in my way around day 61, right before I attended Mike Mahler's workshop in Vegas.

Dude, spending the weekend training with alpha-beasts like Mahler, Jon Hinds, John Brookfield, Dylan Thomas, Tom Furman, and Mark Phillipi, you need to save all of the strength you have...hehe.

So, I tell you what, let's talk privately, and raise the stakes, make a challenge, and use that as a little motivation to get to 100.

What's up, are you in or what?

Hi Caroline,

I wanted to take a moment to congratulate you for trying the 5-minute workout. I'm guessing about 99% of the population doesn't exercise today because its Thanksgiving. But look at you! You did! Even with 3 minutes you should be extremely proud of yourself. You'll work your way up and increase your strength and fitness levels in no time.

Please let me know if I can ever help you in anyway. I would love to keep up with your progress.

Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Hello Scott,
I have no idea how to do a push-up or a squat, and haven't tried to do a jumping jack in about 30 years...boy am I out of shape!
This little video inspired me to give it a try. For a beginner like me, 5min. sounds doable.
I found the jumping jacks the most difficult part! I pushed myself to do three min. and I was quite winded after two reps!
That sounds pitiful, huh? Well, you gotta start somewhere...
I do believe my New Years' Health Goals have begun today! Why wait any longer? Start now, and avoid the mashed potato pudge.
Thank you for the inspiration, and for offering a beginner level. I look forward to your future videos.

In my opinion those were pretty good, 89 is respectable number. I am interested though how many pushups like this would do those from Navy or professioinal sports...

Scott,
I love your blog, I read your emails, and up until I saw that video, I held you in high regard. That was lame. I know you can do better. However, what it has inspired me to to is to try it myself. I will let you know how I fare. You may need to retract that video.

Scott,

Dude, you are my hero, and brother you've got brass cojones for putting yourself on display for the world to see! I respect you for taking the risk. Okay, so your range didn't pass military grade, but you can still work on form and set another goal.

What I'm taking away from this is about goal settng and perseverance. The new challenge should be for everyone who's watching. Let's make this an open challenge.

For anyone that can do at least 50 push ups with good form (now) to get to 100 push ups by New Years. Let's see those videos! I'm in!!!

Now how about some prizes too!

Hi Scott,

Congrats on the 6min mile. I bet you can do even better with the stride you have.

Push Ups on the other well...you already know. I did a push up test too a while back. The "rules" said you had to touch your chest to someone's fist, but no body was around so I used a rolled up mat. Check out all the negative comments I got for that one.

You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu6h75Ohby8

Anyways. Good luck on the pull ups. I did 21 although I'm probably good for 12 right now. The key form me was some cross fit technique where you "swing" a bit. You get a great pre-stretch spring, unlike a dead pull.

Happy Thanksgiving

Scott,
Honesty speaks volumes as does your transparency.

Thanks for the inspiration.

do it again with proper form and let's see how many you can do.

I applaud you for your efforts.
