Good information Scott. So I'm assuming the Flat Belly over 40 program will include a lot of information about food. Just wondering if it will contain vegetarian options? Even though I follow a healthy vegetarian diet (no processed food) I have still managed to grow slowly over the years which I have put down to hormornes but I haven't known what to do about it – until now.
7:16 am
Interesting info…thank you so much!

Hi Scott, Awesome job! Talk about hammer and nail dude – you hit it on the head! I have been going to Bootcamp for 7 months now and still have not budged the belly. I know it has to be the food intake and "the change" (evil laughter in the background). I have been reading about Food Intolerance, etc. and was getting my journal and notebook together for that program (tired of the belly and the stuffy nose). I think I will try your action items first and see how that goes. Bye bye belly. Bye bye Scott – have an abs olutely fabulous day!
7:26 am
Thank you for this info! Very informative.
7:33 am
thanks! I am going to try it.
7:43 am
GRACIAS SCOTT,INFORMACION MUY INTERESANTE!!!!!!!!!!!!
7:53 am
Enjoyed the information. Am 72 years old and have always had the pot belly. No matter how many exercises I do, I still have the fatty stomach…….a result of poor eating habits no doubt.
7:56 am
Thanks so much Scott… I look forward to trying this…

Wow… I'm still thinking about what you've shared… Ummm… I think the most eye-opening fact that you gave me is that if my thyroid is underactive, it's because of my leptin levels being imbalanced. I've never heard it put that way. I was lean and strong for most of my life (I'm now 45), but I started to really put on the pounds after my 3rd child was born (1993). I've had a big belly ever since… I look like I'm 4 or 5 months pregnant all of the time. UGH What would it mean to me to lose this belly fat? It would mean that I would stop feeling like a blob and start feeling like the sexy woman that I truly am! I would have more confidence in how I present myself. I would have more soundness of mind knowing that I'm healthier and doing what's best for my body… and that means I'll be alive longer to enjoy the ones I love and live the life God has called me to! Thank you for putting this information out there! I feel better knowing that there's someone who really does their homework!
8:08 am
Okay, I will try the three steps–the food log, the diary, and on Day 4, cut out all sugar except for fruits and vegetables.
8:20 am
Thank you Scott – I will definetly try this..!!
8:27 am
found the article very informative..thanks Scott!!!
8:31 am
I love it!! I have made a committment to be an example to my best freind who is fighting alcoholism. this is just the thing to help me help him.
8:40 am
What a great video! (Thanks.) I'm 58 years old and I'm tired of looking pregnant. My kids are 33 and 30 years old! — it's time to be done with that look!
I've tried diet after diet. I get inspired to exercise for a while (lift weights, dance, stair climber & bowflex) but I don't stay motivated. I'm definitely an emotional eater stuck on the hormonal roller coaster. I exist between weeks of protein smoothies and bars then cinnamon rolls and chips (depending on my mood, which gets worse and worse as I indulge my cravings.) I need help so bad.
In fact, I just read this article this morning: http://health.yahoo.net/news/s/ap/us_med_waist_si…
It really, really hit home.
I've enjoyed your site for a long time now and I'm really glad you're here. Thanks for all your hard work.
8:42 am
Thank you for suggesting the exercise of analyzing my mood/energy levels 30 minutes after consuming carbs… I normally do not eat a lot of starchy or sugary carbs but when I do, it is always when I am tired and needing stress release! I know from past experiences I normally feel happy and less stressed shortly after consuming the sugar/starch but then again that sets me up for cravings and the vicious cycle begins.
8:49 am
Scott, you give me HOPE! I am 70 and been battling the belly bulge for 15 years (I used to exercise more and eat sparingly). However, I met my wife (10 years younger) and she is a fabulous cook. Both of us have gone to "pot" and would like to get back closer to when we met. She, of course has menopause to contend with and takes hormones nightly.
I have subscribed to numerous email programs hoping to find the "magic bullet" but I don't think any have mentioned these hormones and the need for balance.
I look forward to your new program for those of us over 40 (even way over, I hope)
8:50 am
I have lost 72 lbs in total and managed to keep it off for the last 2 years. I went from a size 22 to a size 14 but my belly keeps me from that size 10 that my youngest daughter wears. I can fit the butt and legs in but still can't do them up LOL If only they made clothes in a size 10 butt and size 14 belly in one pair of pants. I am 58 years old and would really like to see this belly gone for good. Looking forward to this program
8:59 am
It's been 30 years since my youngest daughter was born — and I still look pregnant. Everything you say about hormones makes so much sense to me. An emotional eater, I go back and forth between weeks of protein smoothies and bars then cinnamon rolls and chips. I know when I'm eating those things what it's doing to me, but it's like I can't stop. I've tried Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers, I lift weights (when I'm motivated) and I dance. But still I look pregnant. The looks I get when I'm with my baby granddaughter are priceless — I think people think she's mine!
Starting the food log right away. Thanks for all your hard work and great information!
9:06 am
What loosing the pot belly would mean -> in this youth oriented, competitive environment I would feel more at par with the younger folks and "stay in the game" longer. Don't like to be looked at as the "old lady" (with the pot belly to match the image) – I would like to be looked as the one that has her game together and can be looked up to with regarding to gained wisdom/experiences. The physical image I portray has an impact on how I am treated in my male dominated technical field. I'd like to hear more from you!
9:08 am
Hi Scott! First let me say, thank you for a chance to win a free copy of your new Belly Fat Over 40 Program. I'm looking very forward to its release, because I definitely need it. I really want to transform my body. In that past 4 years I've spent more hours in the gym than I care to mention, yet the way I look does not reflect all my exercise, cardio, and healthy eating efforts. All my friends and family know how much I work out and they refuse to start an exercise program of any kind because they see all the effort I put in and they say it's not worth it for so little change. I tell them in spite of the way I look it IS worth it becaue I feel great, I feel fit and I have a resting heart reate of 56 bmp. Anyway, I have no doubt that if I were in my 20s or 30s my body would transform quickly and I'd be hot, hot, hot with smoking abs. So if your program can change all this I really, really want it!!!
9:09 am
Hey Scott…As always great information. I am 56 and continually working on my belly. It is not huge, but way to big for comfort and my Body Fat is to high. Losing my belly fat would do many things for me but the two most important things would be: 1) Reducing my risk of disease associated with visceral fat which you know you have plenty of if you have belly fat , 2) Increasing my self esteem by being proud of the way I look. I look forward to your new program being released Scott.
9:24 am
What if you're only 39? Will your program still work? Although I am already telling people I'm 40 now.
9:24 am
Wow, what a great series! You're addressing our exact concerns so clearly & practically!
Everybody knows- eat healthier & less, exercise more- but what worked after 5 kids , doesn't work after the 7th :–). Plus, for a workin' woman, there's not much time in life left to waste…
So thanx for pinpointing, we're followin'!
9:52 am
Its almost like this was designed specifically for me..over 40, yo-yo dieting. I need to do something. I get tired of folks asking me when the baby is due or come up and rubbing my belly. I laugh it off , but, well ya know. This is some very interesting information.
9:57 am
Hi Scott — Love the information. I'm a little confused. When your thyroid isn't working properly, you may have low leptin levels? But, in your summary you said fat burning needs low leptin levels. Is that really high levels? And, the slide after that, I think you meant to say (guessing) that when your hormones levels are damaged, your body is working INEFFICIENTLY, right? You said EFFICIENT. Or, maybe I'm misreading.
I've already done the exercises you recommended a month ago when I cut out all refined sugar, gluten, starches, dairy, and meat. That's a little more than what you recommended. I had no sugar cravings, however, I did crave Mexican food like the dickens. So, I substituted a bunch of eggs daily and that helped some. Guessing the lack of proteins in the diet before adding the eggs caused me to crave fatty foods.
9:58 am
I basically just ate raw, high fibrous veggies & high fibrous foods in the form of elaborate green smoothies – also had nuts & psyllium husks for more fiber/fat/protein. I noticed my energy levels SOARED and I had great energy throughout the day with NO BRAIN FOG or feeling lethargic at all. My moods were very stable, upbeat, however, I'm normally a cheerful person anyway.
After doing this for maybe 10-14 days, I ate a sinful tortilla – that's it. I felt sooooo tired that I needed to sleep for 12 hrs that night and I woke up feeling drugged, couldn't think too well. That's just 1 tortilla. So, I went back to my green smoothies & salads, but I kept craving Mexican food still, just less.
9:58 am
I found that when I added back a little more meat, included eggs, and periodically a little brown rice, the cravings stopped completely. Have to eat very little grains, otherwise, even the brown rice made me feel tired, just not as tired as something with gluten.
Daily now for over a month, I have at least one HUGE green smoothie (equivalent to probably 42 oz – three 14-oz cups) spread throughout my morning, drink a cranberry juice concoction recommended by Dr. Eric Berg, and much on either fruit or veggies throughout the day. If I'm still hungry, which I usually am, I'll have some organic free-range chicken with wild rice/quinoa/brown rice, veggies or this yummy, healthy curry dish over brown rice I make. The latter 2 dish types I have to make sure to not eat too much and focus more on the veggies & then I still have good energy levels.
My sleep is much better, deeper, rested, when I do sleep.
10:03 am
Oh, I forgot to add, I'm a regular exerciser and usually eat fairly healthy — even when I don't, it's not really that bad or that often. However, I've continued to be in the 12-16 size range up and down all my adult life. When I get to a 16, I just naturally come back down to a 12 and then back up. Often people don't want to exercise by my example because I used to be addicted to exercise. Now I limit myself to about 1 hr/day.
I found when I did exercise like a mad woman and was stringent about my eating, I'm still the same sizes as when I just leisurely exercise and am not that careful about what I eat (meaning I don't weigh, measure my food and keep a detailed food journal). I have learned most days to sleep more (get at least 7 hrs of sleep), which I think getting enough sleep helps and giving your body enough recovery between exercising.
Never seen my abs, but for working out all my adult life (18-42 yrs) & healthy eating, I really don't look like that's the case. It would be nice to look like I am healthy & fit. I don't look bad, but it would be great to eventually see my abs!
10:05 am
Hello actually before reciving this E mail I noticed that the dayes I ate lots of sweet things or fast food lie pizza I wasn't able to finish my excercise and I felt low metabolism
thanks for this video
10:08 am
Scott,
Losing my belly fat will increase my lifespan!
10:09 am
It's an eye opener. I'm looking forward to see your "Flat Belly Over 40 Program".
For the last 5 years, I have been bothered by my high sugar level which makes me tire easily, gain weight continuously even with reduce food intake and I feel that the medicines I'm taking to control my sugar level is affecting my liver and kidney.
10:38 am
A very informative and eye opening video Scott. I have been in Physical Education , British Army Physical Education Corps, for 35 years and worked most of that time training men and women in the ways to get fit and stay fit. Some of those service personnel did have weight problems which we addressed with extra physical activity and monitored eating plans. Interestingly enough we did not spend too much time working on their hormones, an uneducated mistake I feel after viewing your video.
I am having trouble myself loosing belly fat. I train with weights 5 days a week, working on the 7 minute muscle program and I add on your boxing routine as my carido workout. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. Would love a copy of the flat belly for over 40 program. Thank you for all the good stuff you send out. I am learning something new every day.
11:00 am
Hi Doris, if you have an underactive thyroid, it means you may be deficient in leptin (and your body is leptin resistant). This means you may always be hungry and will overeat.
As far as your other point, I said "your hormonal communication system may be damaged and in need of repair, so your body can become efficient at fat burning."
Hope this helps.
11:37 am
I think your information is great Scott! Thanks for all that you do.
11:59 am
Thanks for the fantastic information, Scott! I am a mother of four who is very active, and at the age of 41 have been frustrated with the pooch that has developed around my middle. I own a boot camp business and have a majority of women who participate that struggle with the same thing–their bellies!! I hope to educate myself more about the information you have shared so I can share it with the boot camp participants. My next camp starts up soon and I hope to have a "waist-loss" challenge to motivate the ladies AND men to commit to change!! The best thing I can do for them is to be an example and "lose the waist" myself!! Over all, I am toned all over…but the area below the belly button haunts me daily!! UGH! Ready to 'walk the talk'!!! Thanks again! Karin from Yakima Washington
12:08 pm
Thanks Scott, you are back to my rescue! Way back I was part of the BBU that you hosted with Jon Benson. It helped me get my best body ever (6-packs abs and all!). Feb this year I had a highly stressful event happen and all my hormones (Oestrogen, Progesterone, Adrenal hormones and thyroid) went out of whack. Since then, I have put on 2 inches around my belly and thighs and have cellulite for the first time in my life. I have learned from you, CB and JB all about exercise and fat-burning but did not know how to help myself with my hormone imbalance. This information has come just in time before I tore all my hair out! Thank you. Can't wait for the next video and the program.
12:19 pm
Thanks Scott – I've hit a "wall" after 16 months using Tom Venuto's BFFM program. I've shed 70 pounds but am still at 29% body fat which I find unacceptable for me. At 52 yrs of age, I am a lifelong dieter. The past 3 months it seems my body refuses to respond to carb cycling, high days/low days, et . . al . . I'm in the process of having my hormone levels checked again. If bloodwork is clean, I look forward to trying your program with Tom's to see how it may differ and render different results.
12:26 pm
Great info!
12:29 pm
Scott, thanks so much for the informative video. I'm going to try the steps you outlined, because nothing else is really working..
12:43 pm
I am an avid exerciser. I am coming back into it after recent surgery. I had to have a hysterectomy due to fibroids that took us the space of a 7 lb. baby. I am working hard on regaining my ab muscles as well as balancing my hormones naturally. I am 49 and it has always been my goal to be in the best shape of my life at 50. I try and do eat healthy for the most part. I allow a cheat day weekly and believe that all of this works. I would love to try your program.
12:52 pm
Thanks so much for all the great information Scott!! I am 52 and sooo tired of being overweight. I am definately going to try this!
1:03 pm
Losing the belly and thigh fat would mean not wearing board shorts to the beach on holidays!
Q: is sprouted bread still a starch?
1:45 pm
Great information! What it would mean to lose the belly fat? Freedom!! I've always been self conscious of how I look, and always been within that last 10lbs weight loss battle, and for a thyroid patient such as myself…if I could get to a point of losing the belly fat by the time I'm 40…wow!! Would that be great!! Thanks Scott for all your info and articles, I read them all and have learned so much!!
1:48 pm
Thanks for the great info…anxious to try the 3 day log and see if there is a pattern to my fatigue and cravings.
1:59 pm
Hi Scott…great information.
I like the 3 action steps and while I don't eat too many high sugar foods..I will do the food journal to see exactly where I might be ingesting sugar without realizing it. I have noticed in my own self that when I eat mainly veggies, fruit and protein I don't crave much of anything else. Thanks for the kick in the butt!
2:15 pm
Very cool info! It would be the absolute Greatest, if I could loose my belly!
2:26 pm
Enjoyed the video. I try not to have refined sugars and starches but find my diet so limited being a vegetarian that lives a gluten free life style. That means I haven’t eaten bread or many starchy foods going on my fourth year. My goal has been to get a flat stomach but still haven’t managed it. Even in my youth I didn’t have a flat stomach. My doctor wants to put my medication and I would like to lose the belly fat naturally and avoid the medication. Your video mentions leptin in connection with low thyroid. I found that very interesting. Thanks for the great information.
3:12 pm
This was interesting information, Scott. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do about it yet.
3:19 pm
Can't wait for the next video or the "Flat Belly Over 40 program". I am over 40 and my husband over 50. I lost about 30lbs and have managed to keep it off but I would love to be a ROCKIN 46 yr old without the tube/handles on the stomach area which don't seem to want to go anywhere. My husband has just discovered over the past few years that he can't just eat "anything" anymore and the belly is where it all seems to deposit. The rules change after 40 and it would be great to have a tool. Thanks Scott for what you do.
3:45 pm
Thanks Scott, it was very informative, short and to the point… I knew some of this but you gave me a lot more info.
4:38 pm
As a dietitian I am aware of what you described however in my practice I concentrated on eating healthier foods rather than determining the best grouping of the foods, hence the proper use of the hormones, to lose the belly fat. I am tired of being what I perceive as a hypocrite, i.e. an overweight (belly fat) dietitian. HELP!
5:02 pm
I have already implemented some of what you said today. I have already cut out most sugar. I will do my best to cut out the rest and notice how I am feeling. I am determined to give the strategies to correct hormone imbalances a try and hope that it will solve my problems with not being able to lose weight. Already with the advice you have given I am losing some. I absolutely must lose this weight. Being overweight is one of the things that has contributed to my sickness. Another thing that contributed to my recent weight gain was being told that I had to go on a soft diet during radiation. The soft diet helped minimize the effects of the radiation on my digestive system, but everything on the soft diet, I can see now, has caused my hormones to go crazy and my weight to balloon! I want to get down once and for all to my normal weight and come up with a liveable solution to keep the weight at the proper level for the rest of my life! My health depends upon it!
5:09 pm
Great Info. Although I don't eat much sugar, (aside from natural sugars in fruit) I'm interested to see how other carbs affect my energy level. I've never been overweight, but can't seem to lose that small belly pooch regardless of exercise and healthy eating. Looking forward to your Flat Belly Over 40 Program.
5:48 pm
Great information was presented in this video. I did not know that hormones had so much to do with where fat was stored. I lost a good deal of weight recently but still have a belly pouch. Can't wait for your next video.
5:56 pm
I can't wait for the full version Scott. I will try the 3 day log starting tomorrow.
6:10 pm
Great video – I have been going to bootcamp for 4 months and can't lose the belly – I'm anxious to see what my journal shows me.
6:49 pm
FINALLY someone out there is addressing this issue. I have been working out for over a year, changed my diet completely and still no inches lost in my belly. I know that there is something out of balance with my hormones and I am really looking forward to hearing all that you have to say, Scott. I have enjoyed your videos and blog during this past year. You are my favorite of the "online workout specialists" and I am not surprised that you are way ahead of the curve in taking on this issue. Many thanks for this info and for all the time you put into those workouts you post. You make it all seem so fun.
6:50 pm
As always, great video Scott! I always knew about how bad excess cortisol was and how important thyroid hormone testosterone, and hGH is. But didn't know about some of the other hormones you mentioned.
Being able to see my abs again would be a huge self confidence boost. Not to mention having more core strength would give me better balance. And lets not forget the additional health benefits.
7:03 pm
OMG! Thanks for the information! It would be totally a miracle to have a flat stomach for the first time in my 57 years of life!
8:28 pm
Thanks for the Video-it's the first really explicit info I've heard about getting rid of belly fat. It is pretty sad when you can't be comfortable in skirts or slacks.
9:12 pm
Hi Scott, I rarely eat high sugar/carbs any more, my naturopath told me last year that I was insulin resistant, I don't have cravings, definitely feel better for it, but I still have the little roll around my belly. I exercise regularly, go to a personal trainer once a week. I would love some help.
9:40 pm
I am 58 and do have somewhat of a belly, but not huge. What bothers me the most is the 3 in. I have gained in my waistline over the past 7 years. I have already made changes to my diet in the past six months–i gave up frozen dinners for lunch, soymilk and flavored yogurts. I make lunches for the workweek on the weekend. Sometimes they last four days, sometimes three. I try to have something healthy on the other days–like salads. Oh–and I have been on thyroid hormone for a number of years–after my doctor said I had 'low thyroid' after reviewing my blood tests. I am rambling on here, but I will write down what I eat for three days and see how I feel. I did keep track of what I was eating a while back, but then I stopped doing it.
10:37 pm
Thanks. I forgot my kale today as I ran out. Maybe a few brain synapses not working? LOL. I get it now. Thanks.
2:41 am
Hi Scott-Thanks for this excellent information! This looks like it is going to be just what I need. I have a pretty good idea what happens when I eat carbs, but I am going to do the exercise to really see it clearly.
I have an additional problem that I have no thyroid (I have Graves disease) and like many people on synthetic thyroxin, I think my thyroid is not really quite in balance although the numbers satisfy the doctor.
3:45 am
It is like the last frontier. I have lost several kilos over the last few years and kept it off but the dreaded 'belly fat' and bloat are still there. I do believe hormones play a big role especially since I turned 40. As well as the ones mentioned I find 'female hormones' also a problem and changes as you get older don't seem to help.
What does it mean to me to lose it? It would be such a sense of accomplishment & self esteem boost that I have not ever experienced but i would sure like to.
Thanks for this video I found it very interesting and had a lot of info i was not aware of.
6:57 am
For some reason I was unable to listen to the talk. I am excited for the over 40 program, I need the motivation!
Thanks
6:58 am
This program should be great! I can't wait to try it!
6:58 am
Hey Scott,
I find all your articles, blogs, videos and programs very informative. Your info really helps especially us guys over 40. Im looking forward to the information for us older fitness entusiasts.
Darrell
7:07 am
I am most interesting in your thoughts/comments/views on losing belly fat for over 40's. There is no quick fix for such a problem, and a fact base comprehensive report on this issue would be most helpful.
7:11 am
Losing my belly fat will help me feel younger, stronger, healthier, and more comfortable. I'm now closer to 50 than 40.. how did that happen!?! I want to be able to breathe properly and fully from my diaphragm without worrying about pulling my stomach in so it will look flatter. Thanks for all your information and support.
7:12 am
Dear Scott,
I am 55 years old and have been trying to reduce my belly fat for the past twenty years, After three children, now in their twenties, I still look pregnant. I have been doing aerobics and working out in the gym but no no avail. Even though my children tell me I am old, I would still like to have a flat stomach. I will be trying the exercises that you recommend.
7:14 am
Thank you for the great info on hormones. I have tried to eat right and exercise everyday but my stomach would just not shrink. I am hoping this will be the breakthrough for me.
Thank you,
Rose.
7:22 am
excellent i having been looking for this stuff to get a good looking abs.
thanks for info……………
7:25 am
This is my problem area for sure and I am in my 40's. From what I understand it will get worse. I exercise like a madwoman and my diet is clean but I still struggle with it. Would like to see what this program is all about.
7:26 am
Hi Scott.

7:32 am
What it would mean to me to lose my belly fat? Peace!
Then I can use my energies in a more productive ways…
I am off to follow your 3 day regime… thanks for the tips…
I'll let you know how it goes..
puresue
7:34 am
Wow Scott! You've taken a lot of scientific mumbo jumbo and presented a concise blueprint for further advances in body fat metabolism… Definately top marks for shedding some much needed light on the topic of serious belly fat shedding!
7:36 am
What would it mean?
I was a fat, wheezy, fearful child.
And I've been fighting that ever since.
Some brief success here and there, but never on the outside what I was on the inside — or perhaps never being, on the inside, what I could be if I shaped what was on the outside.
So, what would it mean?
Freedom. Vindication. Fulfillment.
Victory.
7:37 am
Great new program idea Scott! As a busy mom of 3 (including twins) and a business owner with a crazy work / daily life schedule, it would be SOOOOO amazing to finally find a way to get rid of the "pooch" in the front (as my teenage daughter lovingly refers to it). My husband recently had a very unexpected heart incident, and we've made a ton of very positive changes in the eating/exercise areas of our household for all of us, but somehow the middle-aged belly doesn't seem to want to budge. I could really use this new program. Thanks for always thinking above and beyond!
7:40 am
OMG Scott,,,, You want to know how I would feel about losing that disgusting belly fat???? I am 59, and don't want to look in the mirror and see my mother's jelly belly and cellulite butt, which was square from sitting in a chair all the time….I have been going to the gym 3 times per week for a year now and have lost 5% bodyfat (down to 21.8%)and gained muscle. BUt I STILL have that stinky belly fat. I would feel like the Queen of the Hill if I could master this, and it would be something that I could share by example, cuz I am tired of hearing "I just can't lose that" .
Thanks Scott, for creating this program. I appreciate you.
7:41 am
I would feel lighter, more comfortable, and confident
7:44 am
I am 41 yo/ male with a pot belly. It almost looks like a beer gut. It would help my self esteem and make me feel healthier than I do now. I guess it would give me a higher sense of pride of life. Thanks for the info.
7:48 am
Hi Scott. Thank you so much for this wonderful information! I am so wanting to get rid of my belly! I want to wear those tank tops with no rolls showing underneath, only a nice falt stomach! HEHE! I go to the gym, bust out cardio and eat pretty well but can't get rid of the rolls and my extra 15lbs! I would love to win a copy of the program! I am 38 but am sure I could apply this and end up with the smokin abs that I have been working towards and only dreamed about!!!! Thanks for the oppurtunity and the valuable information!!!! I am on with this…BRING IT!!!! =-)

This stupid belly is such a curse…shatters your confidence level and stresses you more…What a relief it would be to permanently lose all the flab !!!
7:50 am
Most of what you have said I've heard before except for
high leptin levels increase fat storage , I heard the opposite from
Joel Marion , he mentions leptin resistance as a problem , and recomends eat
high calories/carb 1 day a week to increase leptin levels after 6 days of low calorie/low carb diet. Can you please explain why the discreprancy?
7:50 am
Hi Scott, I have battled for years to get rid of my big belly which I somehow got stuck with after my 2 babies – (I would never trade those 2 angels for anything in the world – my daughter is 17 years and my son 12 years old) I have also an inactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) for 12 years. I have been on low fat, to no fat, low carb and no carb and high protein diets. I have tried most of the slimmimg pills on the market and realised that there is no such thing as a slimming pill! I would love to win this new Flat Belly Over 40 program as I am seriously tired of this huge pot I carry around. Would be nivce to find something that foinally works!!! Camy

I'm 50 going through menopause have tried diet after diet including lemonaide diet and cannot not lose my belly. I work out six days a week. I would love to have correct information on losing my belly. I would love to finally get the six pack I'm been trying for years to get.
Thanks Scott
7:59 am
Good job Scott. I knew hormones were important, but did not know the extent or even the existence of some you discussed.
I know part of my problem is reprogramming my mind as well as balancing my hormones. If I could find and faithfully follow a healthy lifestyle plan, it would give me the energy to accomplish more things in my day, give me clarity of mind and the ability to pursue the passions in my life. I would be able to wear clothes that I haven't been able to wear in years. Overall, I would be a healthier, happier and more productive person.
Thank you for faithfully giving to others.
8:00 am
Hi Scott,
My hormones feel out of wack as I'm constantly hungry and don't sleep properly so any further insight into balancing my hormones the healthy way would be great! Hope to win the book.
8:06 am
This is great Scott! I am turning 40 this December and have always struggled with getting rid of the belly fat and love handles. The rest seems to go away fine, but these seem to hang around. I think it would fly in the face of all popular thinking if I was 40 and had visible abs!!!!
8:06 am
oops,keystroke error I meant 31.8 BF,BMI 21.8, duh
8:07 am
Good Video Scott. Thanks for the information.
8:10 am
Hey Scott I am in my early 30's and it would feel great to lose my belly fat and get six pack abs like I always wanted to.
8:15 am
Scott, Am currently 40… 41 this Nov. My goal for this year is to lean out and put the six pack where it belongs… Have come a long way using your advise along with the advise of some of your friends in the fitness biz… So I would hope that a free copy of Fat Belly Over 40 would be an excellent addition to all my reads and methods.. Not to mention a real boost …
Cheers,
Frank

My husband and I are in our 50's. We have watched many friends who aren't that much older than we are have such health troubles because of being overweight and not exercising. We want to do better for our children, to be strong and energetic for them as they grow older and start families of their own. We want to be a great example to them that it's never too late to do something worthwhile and that there is a really SMART way to take care of yourself, to work with your body chemistry and not against it. Losing our belly fat would mean new life – and the ability to look forward to a great future together as a family. Thanks!
8:19 am
I would love to FINALLY lose my belly fat so I can:
* stop looking pregnant (my youngest is 30!)
* live to be 100! (or more)
* love who I see in the mirror
* be the strongest and healthiest I've been in my life
* be proud of myself and what I can do!
8:22 am
I would love to win a copy of your new program to aid both myself and my boyfriend in our battle of the belly bulge. Next month we are taking the next step and moving in together. We'd really like to crack down on our health and fitness. I have a tumor on my pituitary gland which hampers my weight loss efforts, and my boyfriend has diverticulitis and back problems which have had him out on disability three times this year already. I know the benefits of losing our bellies will be many … especially for him – he knows many of his back problems stem from carrying around the extra weight around his middle.
8:25 am
Losing my belly fat will improve my life….beyond what i can imagine now!! but look forward to finding out!!
8:35 am
I am really looking forward to seeing/reading the ways to manage the hormones and control the cravings~ I'm ready to be wearing my 'skinny' jeans!
8:41 am
Would love to not have the bulge and look like an old woman.
8:42 am
I ALWAYS FEEL SELF-CONCIOUS IN BAGGY CLOTHES.I HATE THAT FEELING TO PIECES.LOSING THE BELLY FAT WOULD OPEN NEW DIMENSION IN MY LIFE-MEANING RESTORATION OF SELF CONFIDENCE
8:44 am
It would simply be great to loose my belly fat
8:50 am
Hi Scott: My name is Doug Barnes. I am 49 years old and would love to lose my belly fat. I have questioned as to if this can even be done at my age, or if I will have to settle for just "some improvement". Thanks for your information, Doug
8:53 am
HI Scott: Over 50 and soldiering on. Thanks for the most helpful info. I have some lingering belly fat that still hides my abs, I look forward very much to the info to help me cross that last few feet to the finish. It will be great!
8:55 am
Nice presentation! I'm sick of seeing my middle grow and would appreciate concrete strategies to reverse that. Good presentation!
8:58 am
Awesome information! Thanks Scott for the most concise and informative video on hormones! I have heard some of this information before – but this video shows the correlation between all of the hormones which affect weight loss! I would like to lose my belly fat and keep it off! I can lose some of it with really concentrated effort for about 3 months. But then I slow down my workout routine due to my kids' homework or activities. (I'm a very busy single working mom of two very precocious school-aged daughters) And when I am so busy, I tend to need down time and also tend to eat more starchy foods to "relax." That's a dangerous combination of high-fat, high-carb foods, stress, little sleep and little to no exercise! No wonder my over 50 year-old hormonal body is having a tough time shedding fat around the middle! I am praying that your new book will have the answers I have been searching for since I turned 40!
8:58 am
Great scott.Simple to understand, straight to the point and very helpful.
9:32 am
This is excellent. Although i currently revolve my programs and diet around leptin and insulin, this info give me more to think about when I'm arranging my whole program. This isn't just for dieters but for performance athletes as well
9:33 am
I am an extremely committed fitness and nutrition enthusiast……..actually my degree is in foods and nutrition, am an RN, a nutrition advisor, and personal trainer. I eat very clean I would say 90% of the time…..tons of veggies, fruit, whole foods. My exercise regimen is 5-6 days a week.
I am just trying to find that one thing that my body responds to to rid myself completely of that little bit of belly fat that won't budge unless I go to real extreme measures like I did when I competed in a figure competition a couple of years ago. By the way I turn 50 on Sat!!! My belly did not finally flattened out until the last week of dieting!
I am trying to incorporate more interval workouts for my cardio as well as sticking with my strength workout in which I do lift heavy weights.
To many, I really don't have much to complain about….I am 5'3, 120 lbs and probably around 18% body fat……..I would like to see that around a consistent 15% and my weight between 115 and 118. I really do look lean and have muscular definition but, being a perfectionist, my belly just doesn't fit the rest of me.
Anyway… any kind of suggestions on some tweaking would be awesome and taking a look at your new book may just have the answer.
Thanks for your consideration. Have a great, healthy day!
Dianne
9:36 am
Well, I've done it all and feel pretty much deflated when it comes to trying another "trick" to lose belly fat. But I'm willing to keep trying, Scott, so maybe you have something that will finally work for me.
9:39 am
Great information! It would boost my self esteem to lose this belly, but at 49 I'm beginning to think nothing will help. I lost all my pregnancy weight after the birth of my 2nd child (I was 38). Then several years later I gained it all back due to depression/emotional eating. Now I can't seem to drop a pound not matter what I try. Am tired of feeling frumpy and listless.
9:42 am
Hi, Scott:
Thanks for the information.
As for what it would mean to me to lose my bellyfat, my self esteem would definitely get a boost. It would make a lot of my other exercises a lot easier. I would be a lot fitter and less worried about my health. I currently bellydance professionally and it would just boost my performance tremendously. My bellyfat has been the hardest to get rid of and I just really want to see the old me back.
It really is downright humiliating when it's that time of the month and I have people coming up to me asking me how far along I am and congratulating me and my boyfriend on my pregnancy! Come on! Give me a break! At that point all I do is just smile and say thanks and walk away pretty much feeling deflated (pardon the pun) and wanting to cry my eyes out! Meanwhile my boyfriend gets a kick out of my pain and laughs his a$$ off. I would be on a permanent walk on cloud 9 to be able to walk back to those people and show off a flat firm stomach including my boyfriend.
Thanks Scott.
PS: Pardon the rant but that really is humiliating when someone comes up to you like that. I mean what are you going to say – no honey it's not pregnancy it's fat – LOL
9:50 am
Thanks for the info. I'm cutting carbs and sugars and exercising already, but I'm still having trouble losing, and especially the belly fat. Hopefully soon that will change.
10:14 am
Thanks Scott. I just turned 50 today and after having cereal for breakfast this morning and now being in that slump because the hormones are going to the places I don't need them to go at the wrong time, I realize how much better I would feel if I implemented the Flat Belly Over 40 Program. I think I would feel at least as though I were back in my 30's again if I had the right program to follow. Thanks for all the videos, too!
10:28 am
Well, this all explains alot! Without the proper information we tend to run like a rat on a wheel, never getting anywhere. I look forward to incorporating many of the ideas I'm currently not following. Thanks!
10:32 am
Thanks for the info Scott. I will certainly try this and see if it works for me. Looking forward to the next video.
10:42 am
After having my two children, I have never been able to figure out how to rid my belly of this extra layer of fat it's stubbornly holding on to. But, given the stress of work, life and two kids — and being over 40 — my guess is, after seeing the video, that my hormones are out of whack. That, and I eat too much sugar, a definite weakness! Thanks for the eye-opening information — I look forward to video #2.
10:58 am
Hi, Scott and everyone!
Getting rid of my bellyfat would mean to finally getting the look my body deserves. I've lost 35 lb since february from 215 to 180, but there's a hanging belly on my waist that doesn't make me the happy manI thought I'd be after losing 35 lb. I don't know for sure if I have to go for another 10 pounds to 170 to see it disappear, beacause it seems to be the hardest goal ever, and my overall look is already turning into the "too skinny" side, but what I really know is that keeping that belly at sight doesn't make me happy about myself.
10:59 am
I used to believe that it was pure cal in and cal burned is all that mattered, but as I lost a significant amount of weight this was no longer the case as one gets closer to ideal weight this makes a difference
11:01 am
Thanks, Scott. Over a year and a half I was able to lose about 15 pounds, almost totally eliminate my back pain, and stabilize my suger levels so that I'm no longer crashing on a regular basis. But, I still have that belly, not huge but it would be wonderful to finally get past that last hurdle. The extra weight there definitely does not help my back either! I'm 45 and look better than ever in my entire life, it has been a huge boost to my self esteem. I find I am still self conscious about my belly, and would love to be able to let it go…
11:43 am
Leptin…An under active thyroid can signal other problems how would I get tested for these hormones – and which doctor would be the best to see when having the results read?
I have been watching everything I’ve been eating, and it seems everything has extra and over kill sugar. I have problems with cholesterol- so how can I eat eggs (great for protein) and not raise my cholesterol?
11:54 am
Oh, to lose the belly fat…it would be like being a new woman. I wouldn't look like I was 5 or 6 months pregnant!! When I'm not!! Oh, how wonderful that would be. For my kids to be able to sit all the way on my lap and not have my belly in the way. Oh what a glorious day that would be!!
12:27 pm
Hi Scott, hv heard a lot about this and would really appreciate if I could hv a free copy on this subscription.
After my second pregnancy wherein I had twins I hv never been able to get rid of my belly n till date am always plagued with questions of ” pregnant again”.
I really want to try one such programme to kick start my faith in yr theories and programes as I hv never beensuccessful before and want to give this one last shot.
12:47 pm
Scott, this comes at a time where I am at my wits end regarding weight loss. I have allowed my 10lb loss to come back and I just feel it is all in the belly. It is embarrassing to me and I feel as though I have failed. I have been seeing a lot on hormonal imbalance lately and would be interested in your program.
12:54 pm
Just me adding to my answer to the question, how will I feel after losing the dreaded belly fat ~ like a million bucks! After years of trying and losing I will finally have attained the flat stomach that I have always only dreamed about..and I firmly believe I will be happy with the way I look and I will have you to thank for it!
1:12 pm
If you can make my belly flat I will be the BIG winner!
1:13 pm
Well now this video really opened my eyes as to why I'm not losing this belly fat as I have been doing everything wrong. I first need to control the external stress that is sabotaging my health. I know that stress can wreck havoc on my body, as well as it can kill. I need to avoid all the high processed and sugary foods, but its easier said than done especially when under a tremendous amount of stress. Those are the foods I usually reach for as it comforts me mentally. But there is always regret afterwards. I try so hard to eat healthy during the day, but always without fail sabotage myself in the evenings feeling miserable afterwards. I just don't know what to do with all my hormones out of whack. It seems like I am at war with my hormones, and they always win. This is the reason it is so hard for me to get rid of my belly fat which just seems to be getting bigger as each day passes. I really do need to use that program as I have been struggling with this for years. Hopefully this will be the one last thing that will work for me.
1:21 pm
Addendum to thanking you on the question of how I'd feel to FINALLY get rid of my belly fat I'd feel comfortable in my own skin for the first time in my life.
1:39 pm
I never had a belly before even after two children
then all of a sudden there it was. I use to exercise all the time but work that I do now is at a computer and I get very little movement other
than rest room visits. I start doing crunches and other exercise but I can’t stay consistent. I really need my belly flat NOW! I’m tired of holding it in. As a woman I just can’t let my
stomach All Hang Out.
1:44 pm
What would it mean to me to lose my belly fat? Well #1 would be the obvious – appearanc, e but under the skin (so to speak) the reasons would carry more weight (no pun intended) – long term health concerns. I could really use a program like this.
2:21 pm
Hello Scott..I've received your emails for quite some time..but this is the first time I really had to make a comment! I too am 58 years of age and I have researched a lot on the 9 hormones you talked about, but never have I seen the info so well put together and connected…THANK YOU! I knew that it had to be a reason why I could not lose this fat from my midsection..which is very dangerous and scares me silly. I would love to have a program that is addressing all of the ways in which our bodies burn fat especially belly fat. For me it would mean escaping the diabetic trap that some of my family members are in as well as heart disease. *Not a good family health history* I want to feel healthy…but more importantly I WANT to Be healthy. I enjoy doing resistance exercises when I am not fatigued and also bodyweight work outs. So as you can see it's not so much as not working out but my hormones are out of whack and especially since entering into this time of my life. I thought there was no help for me, but now here you are! Better late than never I say…lol Thank you Scott
3:12 pm
Hi Scott, I've been subscribing to your posts for about 3 years now. I was very serious with BFFM program BEFORE I got pregnant. Needless to say everything is a mirror image of what it was in those days. You woudn't even know me today. It's heartbreaking really. To say I KNOW what I must do, but it is like there has been a brick wall in my way, I feel worse and worse each day that goes by, but somehow I still subscribed to you and Tom. I sort of suspect that hormonally I'm severely out of wack. It seems to be the rug that underlies the good intentions. The stress of being a first time mom in her 40s perhaps was a trigger, but I don't want to attribute blame, I just need a solution. I want to be fit and healthy enough to chase my kid, and I want to be around to see her grow up too.
3:22 pm
Thanks for the information, Scott. I found it very interesting. What would it mean to me to lose the belly fat? It would mean that all my hard work would finally be worth it. I wouldn't mind diet and exercise if I saw results. But when you work really hard with no results, it's very frustrating! It would also mean that I could look at myself in the mirror and not be disgusted and I could wear my bathing suit in public without being embarrassed and that I would look, feel, and BE healthier.
3:50 pm
Hi Scott!
Wow, what would losing my belly mean to me? It would mean that my health would improve as I eliminate the potential problems that come with an excess of belly fat. It would mean I could move easier with less to move around. It would mean my self-esteem would go up as I would feel better about myself. It would mean I could set a great example for my daughter (and get her started with all these). I will give the 3 steps a try and see what happens. It's going to be challenging as the stress at work is rising because of some unexpected illnesses.
4:05 pm
Hi Scott,
Thanks for the info and I'm looking forward to taking the program. I have managed twice over the last 3 years to get to a nice looking body ( not a very lean figure but something I felt pretty comfortable with). The problem then is to actually keep the results as both programs were very restrictive food-wise and one was very time consuming exercise – wise. If you put the plan together, please consider adding the part for the – after you shed the weight/fat – part, thanks!!
Judy
4:09 pm
Scott, I have been struggling for years to get rid of the Belly & muffin top, But to no evail it will not go away.!! After 4 kids, doezens of diets, many bottles of diet pills, which don't work & the Gym I can't get it gone ! The hormones are killing me & living in WYoming its hard to walk in the winter so when spring & summer comes I klll myself trying to look good. My oldest son is getting married Jan 2011 & I just have look good for his special day. I want him to be proud of me that he has a Hot mom! Plus being healthy is my number on piorty as diabeits & heart problems run in our family the fat around the tummy is deadly !! Thanks so much !!
4:31 pm
Hi Scott, I'm looking forward to your latest info. I've incorporated some of your previous exercises that you've had on your free videos. The exercises have really helped my ab/total body workouts. Thanks so much! If I lost weight in my abs, I would be so happy, but more importantly, I would feel healthier, because I would be healthier. And, by being healthier, I could better serve my family & others.
4:50 pm
I have been following you but unfortunately have not been able to do the exercises, as I had an injury – I twisted my right ankle – and it is still swollen and is painful when I do the exercises. My doctor said to wait until the ankle is well enough to be subjected to exercise.
My belly fat has been the problem since I reached my 60s and had a hysterectomy. Before the operation my numbers were all normal – lucky genes – but after the operation, my numbers started inching upward and I have to really watch my diet. If I get rid of belly fat, that would be the day. I am already losing hope that I would succeed.
5:05 pm
Good stuff! Will give it a try! What do I have to lose? Oh yeah,….belly fat! ;o)
6:11 pm
Wow! I would swear you are talking about me! I am 46 years old and have always been able to stay thin and healthy, but as the years have progressed and once I trned 38 and started having hot flashes and bed sweats (yes, my mom went through menopause early too), I noticed that I have gradually put on extra pounds and my once super flat belly is strating to get a little poochy no matter what I do! Will this lifestyle (won't call it a diet) work for women going through menopause? Talk about hormones being out of whack! Thanks so much!
7:07 pm
If I got this program for free, it would make me feel like I still had a chance for a new life at 53 as a widowed single man.
Thanks
7:12 pm
Hello, Scott — I'm 46 years old and I considered myself in good shape. Last year, I had an accident that forced me to stop exercising for a while. I gained 15 lbs. in six months. Now that I am active again, I've been able to lose five pounds, but the last 10 lbs. have been a headache (I blame this situation on my hormones.) I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, whey protein once a day, proteins like fish, poultry, and eggs (I do not eat read meat) and fats like avocado, flaxseed oil, olive oil and coconut oil. I drink lots of water, green tea and an occassional Coke Zero (I know I shouldn't…) I do, however, allow myself one cheat meal on Saturday and one on Sunday (the rest of the day, I eat healthy.) I have recently changed my exercising routines to incorporate kettlebells…I'm starting with 15 lbs, 40 min. MWF… I have started to notice a change in my body, specially in the core area. However, I still have that little pregnancy pouch below the belly buttom (I have a 12-year old wonderful boy.) Therefore, I'm looking forward to your program so that I can finally get rid of this annoying pouch. Thanks for doing all the research and getting us healthier and in better shape!
7:29 pm
Having a flat belly for the first time in my life would be beyond amazing! It's certainly been more of a challenge over 40 to keep belly size under control! And clothing is simply not designed to be at all flattering for that shape.
9:47 pm
Hi Scott,
I'm vegetarian and watch what I eat, but my belly is starting to look like i am 7 months pregnant. I know I am having hormonal changes, thyroid issues and low blood sugar.
Would love all and any of your tips on what to do.
10:10 pm
I am 55 and I am used to being in pretty good shape, but lately the belly fat has increased because of an umbilical hernia and having a brain aneursym 5 years ago and not being able to excercise. I would love to find a way to lose my belly!!!
10:16 pm
need to lose fat..tired of it
10:49 pm
Oh my gosh Scott, you have no idea how much i would like to lose my belly fat. i have tried for 2 years and i can not get anywhere. i have had 2 trainers for about 2 years and i still can not see any results. To me, at this point , losing the belly fat would be the best thing that could happen in my life, has been my desire for long, long time.I think, the information is very helpful and it is what i been looking for 4 a long time, can't wait to get a hold of this wonderful video of yours.Believe me Scott,if i ever lose my belly fat i will be the happiest woman in the world. By the way, i am 53 years old, and i think that's the reason i can not lose the belly fat. So, if u could help me through ur video, u would be my HERO!!!!!!
10:56 pm
I just view having belly bat is a part of aging – what used to be on my butt is now on my belly. Wow to be able to lose this belly would be outstanding! This would put a little skip in my step.
12:39 am
I am 62 years old and have had a belly forever but now its taking its toll because I am starting to have hip problems and I really want to get rid of it. I sure need all the info I can get.
Thanks Scott!
1:07 am
Hello Scott, I have been successfully following your guidelines for the past two years. Happily, I am in much better shape now (at 42) than I was at age 30. People I have not seen in several years consistently comment that I look 10 years younger than when they saw me last – which is excellent! I am strong and healthy, but also aware that I am most likely consuming too much sugar as I still have some stubborn belly fat to shift. But sugar consumption is such a difficult cycle to alter! I would appreciate the opportunity to learn about – and employ – your newest strategies and be your UK evangelist for the Flat Belly Over 40 program.
Thank you for all of your help.
Cheers,
–Melinda
3:18 am
I've always been very interested in the 'science' of things, and this was very informative. Thank you for all the research and for all the information you place at our disposal. If I finally got rid of my belly fat, I think I'd feel I'd achieved the impossible!
4:44 am
well what's new on this data – the tough thing is how do you get others around you to accept the change in choices
6:19 am
I turned 60 this year and did not like how I looked in my birthday pictures……I have since lost 25 pounds but my abs still are not where I would like them to be. Is it possible this program could be the missing link to get me where I want to be? That would be tremendous. I am committed to doing what it takes to get the abs I want…..I have given up sugar and bad eating habits but I feel there is still something missing to get to my goal of getting rid of belly fat. I would LOVE to win this program and give it my all.
6:23 am
Losing belly fat for me would mean being able to pursue a relationship with a man. At this point in my life, I would enter it after having learned the greatest lesson of my life which led to a major transformation. I do not feel comfortable beginning my search with the same body of the past; I want my body to represent who I am today.
7:31 am
i would be the happiest woman in the world i would start going back to beach again so please let me have one
8:56 am
My mid-section is my nemesis… I am quite fit for my 45 years but the one area that escapes my grasp is my belly. Yes, I have 3 children, but the youngest is now 6 and I KNOW deep down that I can meet this hurdle and see my abs again. It's definitely the diet along with exercise that can get me there and I read enough to know what to do… it's just the "doing it" part that escapes me at times. I am incredibly good at following directions and would love an "eat this and do these exercises" approach. Left to my own devices I go back to what is comfortable – and it's just not enough! Your research is intriquing… I'd love to give it a try!
9:00 am
Scott-this is very informative. You didn't say anything about alcohol, but I presume that's a no no as well;) What types of foods should you eat after a strenuous workout if you're not eating any of those types of carbs? Are fruits and proteins a good combination after a workout? Keep up the good work
9:03 am
ahhh I am tugger's Nans… and put on quite a bit of weight for the first time in my life! I am too sedentary! ( taking care of my daughter as she was sick for 8 months of pregnancy) just beginning to take some focus and time for me. I am with my grandson quite a bit so I ride my bike when I am free and walk w/ stroller when I can… I need to do more and gradually am taking the time. I am eating a bit less and more healthy. My daughter is back at school. Things are looking up! I agree with a previous poster who so elegantly stated, she would feel sexy again, healthy again and live life as God intended her to! Well said. It's true, it is God's plan we live by. I knew my grandson would be such a blessing and he's more than amazing and is cherished by our immediate family. His pops and uncle are head over heels in love ! I am determined to be in shape by next summer and strong and healthy to truly enjoy him at the beach, in the pool, etc… chasing his bike…. Nans is determined… Thanks for the great information & encouragement each day
12:27 pm
i am approaching 60. my waking and workout habits have kept me well in shape, flexible and energetic. Thanks to God. I urge my friends to do workouts too. I consider bulging out bellies the foes. If one can control this damn thing in all the troubles ward off itself. Those ignore it's growth I consider them insincere to themselves.
2:37 pm
Reason why I need to lose my belly fat, I have three belly fat : one immediately under my breast, 2nd right at the navel, and the 3rd in the pubic region. When I sit they touch each other and it is uncomfortable if I do not have on my girgle. I exercise at least 5 days a week but not much change in that area. I lost 12lbs, my present weight is 150 lb. I have big boob and big belly and I need to get rid of the belly.
3:43 pm
Now, losing the paunch and looking fab in the clothes woud be fantabulous!!! Really who in their right mind would not want to lose that ab fat? I would feel like a million bucks and feel more attractive!!
5:15 pm
Hi Scott! You ask how I would feel if I lost my belly fat? Incredibly grateful. Grateful for the ability to set a worthy goal and persevere until I successfully completed it, gaining the confidence that I can do the same in other important areas . Grateful for developing a better bodily control and physical condition than I ever had .in my entire life. I would forget I ever was that lethargic weakling for whom carrying a ladies handbag was a burden and the slightest activity resulted in breathlessness and exhaustion. I would feel full of energy to be a better companion and helper to my husband, a more attractive and exciting lover for him. An independent, self-sufficient yet lovingly welcoming mother for my children, or host for my relations, friends and anyone coming to our house, always ready to serve another meal or participate in trips, walks and games. Ready and able to volunteer and help in any situation or emergency. I would look forward confidently to the arrival of my first grandchildren, knowing that I will have the strength and energy to carry them and take care of them in every way and play tirelessly with them. I would feel so much happier for being alive! If at my age (60) I could lose the belly-fat I only acquired over the last year or two, it would involve such a lifestyle change and fulfill such an old dream that its significance would far exceed that of a mere aesthetic improvement. And if you Scott and Mike could bring me to accomplish that, then I would be your biggest fan, because you would have achieved something that neither my parents, husband, nor children had been able to.

This is a very informative video, somethings I knew, but learned a few others. It is definitely something I will review again and incorporate in my daily life because I really not only need to lose this belly fat, but lose this weight that is probably helping to slowly kill me every day including lack of sleep!
3:45 pm
Thank you for the opportunity to finally rid my body of the belly pooch
It so makes sense that my hormones are giddy with what I have put myself through before I heard of you Scott…looking forward to a flat belly at 52 at the end of this month…I thoroughly enjoyed the learning journey and look forward to winning the video so I can keep up with my twin 4year old boys and their futures
8:37 pm
Some diet plans require starchy carbs. This would seem to conflict with this videeo.
8:54 pm
I sure hope your program is about the food you can and should eat. I have been running, lifting weights and the belly fat just sticks around. I'm waiting for the 40 plus program. Making the core stronger but not slimmer.
10:02 am
awesome info – I am not over 40, but in need of losing some of that belly fat I accumulated (and continue to do so). I am going to watch the next video now and get started on my action steps.
Thank you! and goodbye belly fat!
5:21 pm
Although I have seen discrete references to various hormones, I found this useful as it comprehensively includes a whole group of hormones and their inter-relationship.
6:36 pm
Thanks Heather…there will be plenty of food suggestions for those that are vegetarians.
6:37 pm
Thank you Lisa. I appreciate it. Did you try the action steps? How did they go??
6:48 pm
You're welcome. And thank you for sharing the link to that article.
6:49 pm
Thank you for the comment Roy. I hope my new program can help you! ; )
6:53 pm
Hey Chris, yes it will work even if you're only 39. That's how old I am now, and I use the principles of this new program which works great for me.
7:10 pm
Thank you Jennifer. This was one of the best comments I've ever gotten. I appreciate it!
7:12 pm
Thanks for the comment Darrell
7:15 pm
Thanks for the great words Rob! Much appreciated!
8:01 pm
Hi Mark – yep alcohol is pretty much a no no. I'll address this in my main program. For your after workout nutrition, yes protein and fruit is a good combo. I usually make a protein smoothie and add fruit to it.
3:57 am
Hi Scott! In answer to your question, it would mean… well, more than words can really express to lose my belly fat. It would mean my future health, since belly fat has been shown to be a dangerous precursor for so many illnesses and diseases, and that's really the most important thing. I have really slimmed down since I started working out regularly a few months ago, but mostly in my thighs and some in my arms, and a little in my neck/face, but that belly fat just hasn't moved. In addition, it would open up a whole new wardrobe for me in my own closet!
8:53 am
Thanks, Scott.
Good information. I keep forgetting that "what" you eat can be very important — and that cutting caloric intake isn't the entire answer…
9:45 am
Not new news, but motivational. I have been yo-yo dieting for too many years now and at age 57 am carrying 70 extra pounds. And I am tired of feeling sluggish. Today I ate vegetarian with rice and beans as a center, and felt sleepy until I picked up the dumbells and worked them while listening to the video. Now I am better, but think I want to study giving up on fish and chicken.
1:40 pm
Great information. I am always looking for answers. I am really good about my diet and exerciing, quite diligent. I am slim, my weight is good yet I still battle the "flat belly" issue. I think I doomed to have it. My husband understands my frustration and even told me I could get a tummy tuck if I wanted. Of course I declined. I would rather do it myself. Hopefully I can learn more from you. I am 49 I am 5'5 and weigh 115-117. And I have a pooch. AAGGHH!
4:02 pm
I found the video very informative. I participate in boot camp programs, Les Mills Body Pump and Les Mills Body Combat classes and at 55 have seen a huge change in my belly fat over the past 5 years however, I find that depending on what I've eaten that day, the next day I may see distinct belly extension. Curious to see if your "Flat Belly Over 40" program addresses this issue.
8:17 am
If I could just loose about 4 inches of my belly fat that would be fantastic. I would just feel healthier and more confident in my clothes!!
11:18 am
I know that protein is critical to this type of eating. Are you going to give us vegetarians options in your plan? I know that when I eat starches and sugars I bloat and by the end of the day am almost a size larger around my middle. If I stay away from the those foods, the bloating is noticeably less. I also feel a lot better. Thanks!
1:12 pm
Scott, I have always been "pear shaped" and have to work hard to keep my hips and thighs down. but now, at 45, I suddenely have a low belly. the top of the abdomen and down to my navel have a nice shape to them even some definition but below the belly button I suddenely have a pouch. I work so hard to keep the fat off my hips and thighs and now…where did THIS come from?? I want this gone!
5:30 pm
Hi Scott, I love your teaching style, you get the losing weight message out without the hype and instill confidence, which is only achieved by following a step-by-step organized plan that allows you to understand your body while transforming the way you eat and exercise.
The Flat Belly Over 40 program represents an real result and for me that means being in control, healthier, happier living life to my fullest and enjoying better quality of life everyday.
7:16 pm
I find losing belly fat as the most difficult thing to do.
7:34 pm
I can not see any of the 3 videos.. Am I doing something wrong.
Gary
8:14 pm
Gary, I re-uploaded all of them and they should be working now. Please let me know.

Was an active, healthy size 10 most of my adult life but put on weight during the last 10 years of my marriage after my husband became permanently disabled. A great deal of stress and the need to be sole financial support of a family of 7 with 12-hour work days (including weekends) at a sedentary job, plus long commutes, resulted in a size 18.
Once my children were grown I used the opportunity to become very active again and, over a period of two years, lost 60 lbs. by eating healthfully hiking, kayaking, dancing and going to the gym 5-6 times a week. My muscles were strong and toned – except for my belly.
Last year I was diagnosed with some serious degenerative changes in my cervical and lumbar spine, and was warned by my doctors to be very conservative in gym workouts. I tried talking with my previous gym trainers about alternatives to ab crunches involving weights and 100 pushups, and realized that they only had a "one size fits all" approach to training. All they could offer was "do the best you can". I cancelled my gym membership and have been relying on daily cardio workouts by walking or riding my bike.
This does not address my belly fat problem at all, but I'm at a loss about which ab exercises I can safely do without stressing/injuring my neck or lower back. If you can answer those questions for me you'll have a grateful fan for life!
Since all of our savings were used after my husband's disability, I'll never be able to afford to retire which means that I want a diet and exercise program that will maintain health for many years – and also keep me looking good as I continue employment in a highly technical profession with colleagues half my age.
I look forward to hearing your ideas, and thank you.

This is a follow up from myself, I think you must have meant that chronic high leptin levels indicate leptin resistance simular to chronic high insulin levels indicate insulin resistance which is equivalent to those levels being too low since cells don't respond to these levels.
However after eating a meal temporary high leptin and insulin levels are necessary to suppress appetite, decrease fat storage and lower blood sugar.
I have heard that insulin directly increases in proportion to blood sugar levels
but I'm not sure if that is true with leptin as I've heard that fat levels are a factor?
Although Joel Marion indicates eating a high carb meal will increase leptin levels
Is there any blood tests for leptin available ,I have not heard of any?
7:40 pm
Scott, I think you are talking to me. I do have lots of stress from my job, I have always tended to be an emotional eater with a craving for sweets causing my the back and forth battle for hormone domination with insulin and cortisol. I do a lot right in the gym but until I get this corrected, most of the work put forth will be fruitless.
1:46 am
I'm doing quit a lot of aerobic exercise, because I compete in ballroom dancing and are a referee in soccer and floorball, and have to be in good condition. The aerobic exercise keeps my weight and fat at good level, but the problem is, that I'm skinny and still have more bellyfat than I would like to. So I would need help with weight training to gain muscle.
7:43 am
Doctors test only TSH levels, or just possibly T4 levels as well. The standard prescription for low thyroid hormones is T4. This does not help if the patient has trouble converting T4 to T3 (the active hormone).
Surely it possible to reset leptin levels by overfeeding periodically?
8:05 am
Thanks Scott, very clear presentation. Thanks.
8:57 am
A great easy to understand presentation – looking forward to the next video

I am 52 years old and have had to be fit and fabulous on my vision board for 2 years now. Due to some medical issues and some laziness I haven't done anything about this belly until now. I made a deal with myself to excercise everyday for 30 days and see what happens. even though I haven't made that goal I am still excercising more that I normally would be. Have recently cut out the wheat as I think that was an imflamming food for me and am feeling much better and not bloated. I am a vegetarian and have been for about 30 years, no dairy either. Have had a hard time ridding myself of the belly. This info will help, although I don't think I am to out of whack it is worth a try, you never know. In the mean time I will keep on the path I am following and doing the workouts you have provided!!
1:03 pm
Thanks for the video Scott. Some interesting stuff. I am going to try the 4 days and see what the results is.
9:12 pm
Great new info…. Thanks:)
6:51 am
Information I have heard b4, but bears repeating, that starchy and processed carbs can ruin our health and look in the long run. Thanks Scott.
