Butt Exercises
March 9th, 2008 · Filed Under: Abs Exercise
Happy Monday!
I just made a video of the best butt exercises, the top 10 to be exact.
Wait a second - isn’t this supposed to be a blog all about abs?
Well, yes, but I figured you’d like some information on other body parts as well from time to time.
And since daylights savings was this past weekend, the days are getting longer, the weather getting warmer and it will soon be that time to put on your bikini or swim trunks.
Wouldn’t you like a nice butt?
I thought so. If you’re going to have sexy abs that turns heads at the beach you might as well have a great butt to go along with it. : )
The video below contains 10 of the best butt exercises.
These are bodyweight butt exercises, meaning you don’t need any equipment and you can so them anywhere.
You’ll notice that all of these exercises are done standing up, rather than sitting or lying down. I get great results with standing up butt exercises.
You’ll also see a lot of these butt exercises show up in the 4-Minute Workout DVDs.
And you can easily substitute one exercise for another to give you an endless variety of 4-minute circuits.
Go out and try these exercises. Practice your technique and form and let me know what you think?
Were you sore the next day?
Are any of these butt exercises new to you?
What other types of videos would you like to see?

Please don’t encourage 189 degree squats on concrete. Bad for knees, feet, and back.

Those look like great exercises. However, with a bad knee, how do I adapt these exercises to still get results without (further) destroying my knee?

Lots of fitness experts recommend lunges and squats as being great glute exercises. Recently I saw a well known personal trainer say that they are great for legs but don’t do much for the glutes. Is there any research to settle the matter?

Hi Jack, I would ask your doctor to let you know what you can and cannot do. You most likely should not perform any of the jumping movements and shorten the range of motion on other movements like the squat and lunge, and get a shorter step for the step ups.
Amanda - I would suggest that this trainer is wrong. Glutes perform hip extension which is one of the movements that you do when performing a squat.
Better than research, I would suggest you try some and see if you are sore the next day. It also helps to maintain proper form, drive your hips back and sitting back, pushing up through your heels slowly and really squeezing your glutes as you come up from the movement.

Hi Scott,
I just watched your bootcamp video (it is 4:50am here) and butt exercise video. I could feel each exercise in my body as I watched them being performed. I am very inspired to try them out. I liked them very much and will incorporate many in to my personal program. I especially liked the way you combined arm, shoulder, and upper back workouts with the squats at the boot camp. How about a boot camp in Houston, Tx.
Sincerely,
Carol in Houston
