Flat Belly Workout – April 17, 200917 Comments
Here’s a great flat belly workout that you can do anywhere. There’s only one piece of equipment to use, called a Jungle Gym, but you could easily just use a long towel.
Everything is explained in the video, but you have 8 exercises, and you’re going to do an exercise for 30 seconds, and rest for 30 seconds until you complete all 8 exercises. Try 3 rounds of the circuit.
Check it out and let me know how it goes by leaving your comments.
Thanks,
Scott

Hey Scott, I was looking at the 8 exercises for abs workout -2 questions:
1- there is one that looks like u r doing mountain climbers but not really, looks like a lunge – can you explain
2 – one that looks like you are doing a pull up at the playground – is there another exercise that will work the same muscle?
I want to give these a try –

Hi Sue,
1) The first exercise you are referring to is the Spiderman Climb. Great for hip flexibility and abs stabilization as you are in a push up position and you bring your foot as close to your hand as possible.
2) This is a bodyweight row, which is a great alternative to a pull up as your feet never leave the ground. If you have a resistance band, you can do rows with the band, pulling the handles towards you.
Does this answer your questions?
Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to film these workouts! I get so bored doing the same old exercises. You’ve inspired me to get out of my basement as well! Much appreciated.

Hi Scott
I love the exercises you show because they are simple to do, you show them, and you don’t use a lot of equipment mostly just bodyweight.
Can you tell me what is the easiest way of timing 30 seconds? Thanks, Lee

Thank you for all the exercises and tips! I have been personal training and was getting bored with the same exercises. Progression, Intensity, and Variety is key!

Good stuff man. Though I couldn’t help noticing the basketball court…
I’d ditch the step ups and shoot some hoops instead

Yes,thanks a lot – now I will have an alternative to the pull up row. So just sit on the ground and use a band and pull towards you like rowing a boat?
With the spiderman climb- so moving the foot as close to the hand is working the hips?

Hi Lee,
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoy the exercises. I love bodyweight exercises because you can do them anywhere and they really can get your great results.
You might want to try a Gymboss Interval timer found here:

Let me know how it works for you, Lee.

You’re welcome Jillian.
You’re right and those are 3 powerful words to take to heart:
Progression, Intensity, and Variety is key!
I’ll add Effort and Consistency.
Thanks!

Thanks Yavor! I do love playing basketball and that was the court that I played on when I was growing up.
I miss it!

Hi Sue,
No – go ahead and stand up while doing the row. Perform it like you see in the video at this link:

Yes the spiderman climb works hip mobility as well as abs and shoulder stability.
Hope is helps!

Scott,
I have been working out with a trainer 3 times a week. I am on the treadmill at several different inclines throughout & I use weights. These are 40 to 50 min sessions. Additionally, I try to walk during the day 2-3 miles. Not all at once. I have also added 2 days of exercising on my own. I have not lost a pound!!! What is going on? I have never done this much exercise in my life.

I forgot to mention that I have been doing this for 3 1/2 weeks

Hi Sara,
Well, firstly I would ask you if you’ve asked your trainer? And if so, what did they say?
And secondly I would need some more details. Exercise is only part of the equation. There is a VERY important other part of the equation called diet. So I would need some info about that.

Thanks Scott for all these types of exercise. I have restarted my routine this week as I dropped off wayback in January2009 after 2 weeks.
I have muscle pains all over my body. What can I do?
10:23 am
Hi Rotimi – are you talking about muscle soreness after working out?
If so, I would recommend stretching after your workout, taking a hot bath, and going for a walk to stay loose and active.
Hope this helps. The muscle soreness is at its worst when you’re just getting back into exercise. It will get better.
