How Much Does $60 Really Buy You At The Grocery Store? - Abs Uncrunched Show Episode #8
November 20th, 2008 · Filed Under: Abs Nutrition
So there’s been a lot of talk lately that it’s too expensive to eat healthy.
But on the other hand, a lot of people are on diets where they have to eat pre-packaged processed food coming from the diet company itself.
Examples are:
Weight Watchers
Jenny Craig
And the diet that begins with a C, ends with an E and has an OOKI in the middle.
If you’re on that third diet, you’re spending $60 for their food, and you only get one type of food.
So these diet foods can get a little pricey, and they’re not healthy.
So what CAN $60 buy you at the grocery store?
Well follow me, and just watch this…
Oh by the way, I am sure I could have done better shopping…but hey, I’m a guy.
I just grab and go.
Have an amazing day.

Hey Scott,
Great video buddy.
I loved the “starts witha ‘C,’ ends with an ‘E,’ and has ‘ookie’ in the middle” part of your video.
LOL!
Eating healthy on a budget is possible and great job of showing everyone the “AND” solution that you can save money AND eat healthy.
Keep up the great work buddy!

Hey Scott
The “infamous diet actually costs more than $60.00/week because you still need to buy the protein and veggies for the dinner meal. So in reality, it would be more expensive to be on the “other” diet.

Hi Scott,
Good stuff, although I am not sure about the peanut butter, I prefer raw peanuts. Your video made me feel hungry, so I am going to grab some healthy stuff I got here

Thanks Scott for showing that it is possible to eat healthy and not expensive! Here in Canada it is also very easy to eat healthy and not be expensive!I shop when there are sales on so for me 60.00 would buy a lot of healthy food and for me that amount of food would last me more than a week!!Thanks again!!Helen

Hi Scott,
I don’t think that the main problem is the cost of food but the fact that people do not know how to cook and it is not worth the effort (why not when you can “nuke” something that comes out of a box). Then there are all the pots and pans to be washed and stove top and counters to scrub after. It is just better to have someone else do the dirty work.
However there is a pretty big cost to this kind of - shall i say it?- LAZINESS - Not only in the cost of food, but also in the cost of health. Diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and many many more deadly illness too numerous to list. So when you add up sick time, doctors visits, hospital visits, medications - the cost adds up to much more.
So open a cook book, learn some tasty healthy recipes, serve it up and enjoy the benefits.

Great video. I find it is somewhat expensive to eat healthy, however I live in Eastern Canada and meat in particular seems to be very expensive here. But most of it is because I eat a whole lot, trying to bulk up.
As to the laziness, I just cook all my meat on Sunday afternoon for a week and refrigerate it. Then it’s easy to make a sandwich, a wrap a salad or whatever else. Doesn’t take much time and totally worth it.
