How to Beat StressNo Comments »

Topics: Abs Mindset

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seems to go right?

You oversleep because you forgot to set your alarm. This causes you to skip breakfast and rush out the door. On your long commute to work, there is an accident on the highway and you sit in traffic for 30 extra minutes. You’re late to work and your boss yells at you. Worse yet, you left an important paper at home because you had to hurry out the door.

We’ve had days like this, where everything seems to go wrong and we have stress coming at us from every direction.

Since stress is pretty much unavoidable, what can you do? Well it’s all in the way that you manage your stress when it comes at you. Here are two techniques on how to manage stress that I’ve read about that I teach in my Master Your Motivation course.

1) The Scanning technique. Stop whatever you’re doing, sit up nice and tall in a comfortable posture. Bring your shoulders back and your head up. Close your eyes and take a “scan” around your body. What part of your body feels tight? Tense? Uncomfortable? Identify these muscles, focus on them and concentrate on relaxing the muscles in that area.

2) Imagery. This is another great technique to use when you’re stressed. Stop what you’re doing and close your eyes. Visualize in your mind a pleasant scene. It might be the mountains, or the beach or a waterfall. Whatever is peaceful for you. Focus on that image for a few moments, and enjoy it. Put into perspective what was making you feel tense just a few moments ago.

Here’s what I want you to do. The next time you feel stressed, put one of these two techniques to use, and let me know how it works for you. How did it make you feel? Relaxed? More at peace? I can’t wait to hear how this works for you.

Until then, have an amazing day. :)
