Hi Scott, thanks for all the great information you put on your website and emails!! I have a question: Is it good to eat before and after working out? if so, whats the best thing to eat? (I’ve gotton many different answers over the years and would appreciate it if you could clarify this for me). Thanks!!

I have been taking 3 servings of whey protein powder a day for over a year – 40 grams each serving – am I doing my kidneys / liver long term damage? I am 40 years old, weigh 170 pounds, do cardio 5 days a week and lift weights 3 days.

Hi Scott:
What do you and Jayson think of Brad Pilon’s “Eat Stop Eat” and how it may or may not contribute to healthy fat loss?

I’m not new to proper nutrition and macronutrient diets, but I’m fairly new to carb cycle diets and I’m hoping to avoid wasting development time trying different versions of it. Some advocate a three day cycle (hi, lo, and no carbs) while others advocate three days of lo carbs and one day of high carbs. I’m guessing it has to do with properly manipulating metabolic hormones. What’s the science behind the variation of the days of the cycle and what are the strengths and weaknesses of each approach? Should I just experiment until I find the right variation for my body and fitness level?

Hi Scott, I had surgery recently and cannot workout (dr.’s orders) for at least 2 weeks, and then another 2 weeks will be very limited. I have to keep my meals simple since I also cannot cook – any advice on what to eat to maintain the progress I have made so far? I have been eating the following so far: hard boiled eggs, lowfat yogurt, oatmeal (old-fashioned rolled oats), lowfat cottage cheese, some cooked chicken breast, steamed cauliflower. Any other ideas? Thanks!
