A Fun Abs Workout For Six-Pack Abs

August 27th, 2008

Howdy,

I’m in Las Vegas as I type this, but I wanted to show you a quick, fun abs workout that you can do to help you on your pursuit of a six-pack.

All you need is yourself, a deck of cards and a little bit of space.

I’m really big on workouts using your own bodyweight that you can do anywhere, like we do in Bikini Abs Makeover.

I know it sounds weird to use a deck of cards, but that’s what makes this workout fun!

You’ve got some flexibility to this workout so be creative.

Check out the video and enjoy!

Scott

The Michael Phelps Diet - 12,000 Calories a Day

August 18th, 2008

Howdy,

I read an article last week about Michael Phelps’s diet.  It turns out he eats 12,000 calories a day!

This is 9,500 calories a day more than the FDA recommends.

He told NBC that on an average day, this is what he eats…

Breakfast: 3 fried egg sandwiches, 2 cups coffee, 5-egg omlette, bowl of grits, 3 pieces of french toast, 3 chocolate chip pancakes

Lunch: 1 pound pasta, 2 ham and cheese sandwiches, energy drink (1,000 calorie)

Dinner: 1 pound pasta, 1 large pizza, energy drink (1,000 calorie)

Looks like he isn’t following the Carb Rotation Diet. :)

Now before you go out there and try this yourself, keep in mind that Michael Phelps exercises about 30 hours per week.

He actually has to keep his calories intake up to compensate for all of the calories he burns during his 30 hour per week workouts.

Whew!  I don’t think my stomach could handle this much food.

And I know I won’t be followng the Michael Phelps Diet any time soon.

But it was interesting to hear what he eats.

Have an amazing day.

Scott

Fit Into Your Skinny Jeans in 4 Weeks

April 21st, 2008

It’s that time of year where the weather is getting warmer and you’d like to be able to fit into your skinny jeans and other sexy outfits that you may not have worn in awhile.

Your tightest pair of jeans won’t stand a chance against this fat-blasting lower-body cardio and sculpting routine that will whittle your waist, legs and butt in 4 weeks.

This is the perfect plan to flatten your belly, tone your thighs, firm your butt and blast fat everywhere.

Here’s the routine…

One legged step ups x 60 seconds (each leg)
Mountain climbers x 60 seconds
Side reaching lunges x 60 seconds
Jumping Lunges x 60 seconds
Knees to elbows x 60 seconds
Rest x 60 seconds

Perform 3 rounds.

It’s a short workout which will take you about 20 minutes.

It’s a non stop clock so move from exercise to exercise without resting.

This will get your heart rate pumping and spike your metabolism all day long.

If you are new to exercise and can’t perform 60 seconds of each one, no problem. Just shorten the work load to 30-45 seconds.

I recommend doing this routine 3 days per week on non consecutive days.

Add 2 or 3 days per week of high intensity interval training or hill sprints as well as a gut busting diet plan like The Carb Rotation Diet and you’ll be slipping into your skinny jeans in one month.

I would love to hear back if you try this routine and let me know what you think. Please leave your comments.

Have an amazing day,

Scott

The McDonald’s Workout

March 27th, 2008

Did you ever think you’d see someone workout in the parking lot of McDonald’s?

Well leave it to me to do just that. : )

This was a fun video I put together a couple of years ago.

Some of you have seen it and some of you haven’t.

Sorry for the darkness of the video.

I hope my videos are much better now.

This was just my way of showing you that you can workout anywhere…even in the parking lot of McDonalds.

Hey who says you have to go to McDonalds to eat and gain weight?

Why don’t you go there and get in a workout.

Here’s what I did…

10 modified pull ups
10 push ups
10 curb jumps

as many rounds as you can in 5 minutes.

Enjoy! And please leave your comments about this crazy video. What did you think of it? Do you have any other crazy places you want me to shoot a workout video?

Have an amazing day.

15 Minute Workout for Fat Loss

March 4th, 2008

Happy Tuesday!

I’ll make this short and sweet, like my 15 minute workout for fat loss that I did today.

In fact, I just finished it about 5 minutes ago. : )

I like to perform short, intense workouts most of the time. It keeps me focused on the task at hand and gives me more free time for other things.

My normal interval training routine was getting a little stale recently. Not difficult enough, and frankly, I was getting bored with it.

So what did I do? I changed it up.

So I went to my gym in my apartment and…..hold on, hold on. You went inside a gym, Scott? I thought you did nothing but outdoor workouts.

Well normally I do, but there are just sometimes where I like to control the speed of my sprints and so I use a treadmill.

And today, I actually needed hills. And Dallas ain’t got no hills. Perhaps a reason we’re one of the fattest cities in America?

Anyway, back to my workout. The main thing that I changed in my interval training was to add hills to my sprints. Or in my case, an incline to the treadmill.

If you read The Truth About Six-Pack Abs, they talk a lot about interval training, wind sprints and hill sprints as one of the best things you can do to get a flat stomach and six-pack abs.

Since I added an incline to the treadmill, I backed off the speed from 11 mph to 9 mph.

So my workout was the following:

Warm up with a brisk walk or slow jog on the treadmill
Run at 9 mph and 5% incline for one minute
Walk at 3.5 mph and 2% incline for 90 seconds
Repeat for 5 rounds
Brief cool down

And there’s your 15 minute workout for fat loss. I worked up a good sweat and now I’m headed for a shower.

So, are you ready to try this? I would love to hear your experience. Or maybe you have your own 15 minute workout. Please add your comments and share with everyone. And while you’re at it, maybe you can suggest a place for me to move that has hills. : )

Have an amazing day.

Scott

Find a Workout in Your Community

March 3rd, 2008

Howdy!

Almost every Saturday morning at 9:00 here in Dallas, I run a free workout for the community. It’s an outdoor workout, and we always have a fun time and get in a great workout. Below is a picture of the group that came out for the workout this past Saturday.

You can easily find a free workout in your community. There is an online resource called Meetup, where you can search for fitness groups and workouts in your local area.

Whether you are looking for a walking group, or a bootcamp style workout, chances are that you can find one in your area on Meetup.

Not all of the Meetup groups are free, but a lot of them are. My Saturday morning workout group is called the Playground Fitness Club and I have chosen to make these workouts free as a way for me to give back to the community.

If you are looking for a walking group in your area and can’t find one, you can start one yourself. Once you create your group, other people on Meetup who search for fitness groups in your area will see yours and become a member of your group.

Soon enough you’ll have a whole big group of people in your community coming together for a fun workout.

Starting or joining a workout group in your community is one of the best things you can do to help get rid of obesity in this world once and for all.

Check out my good friend Scott Tousignant’s Obliterate Obesity Report that gives you other ways that you can help put an end to this terrible epidemic. You can download it on his new blog called Obliterate Obesity. Enter in your name and email address at the upper right hand corner of his blog, and the report will be emailed to you.

Do you have any other ideas on how we can get rid of obesity? What else can you or I do in our communities? Please share your comments below.

Have a great day!

Quick 10-Minute Workout

Here is a quick 10-minute workout that you can do anywhere. No equipment necessary and no gym required. It doesn’t take a lot of time and is very effective for fat loss which will help you with getting a flat stomach and six-pack abs. This workout will work your entire body - upper body, lower body, your abs, and will really get your heart rate up. You should do a proper warm up first.

The workout consists of 4 exercises - squat thrust, squats, push ups and jumping lunges. You’ll do 60 seconds of each exercise, then 45 seconds of each, then 30 seconds of each, and finally 15 seconds of each exercise for a total of 10 minutes.

So the routine looks like this:

60 seconds of squat thrusts
60 seconds of squats
60 seconds of push ups
60 seconds of jumping lunges (or lunges)
45 seconds of squat thrusts
45 seconds of squats
45 seconds of push ups
45 seconds of jumping lunges (or lunges)
30 seconds of squat thrusts
30 seconds of squats
30 seconds of push ups
30 seconds of jumping lunges (or lunges)
15 seconds of squat thrusts
15 seconds of squats
15 seconds of push ups
15 seconds of jumping lunges (or lunges)

Check it out in the video below. Good luck with it and I would love to hear your comments after your try it.

Bodyweight 500 Workout for Six-Pack Abs

January 19th, 2008

The Bodyweight 500 is a great workout that I first learned from Craig Ballantyne, creator of the Turbulence Training System. You’re basically going to take 10 bodyweight exercises and do 50 reps of each one as fast as you can. This will total 500 reps. Get your stopwatch out and time yourself because it will be fun to see if you can beat your score the next time out.

There are some great things about this workout. You can do it anywhere - so you don’t need to belong to a gym. As you can see from my video, I did it outside. It works your entire upper and lower body and heart rate. You are also working your abs really hard. And this is a quick workout - it doesn’t take forever to do.

Craig Ballantyne has come out with the original Bodyweight 500 as part of his Turbulence Training program. I put a variation of it in the video which I hope you will watch.

Here are the exercises I did (50 reps of each as fast as you can).

Squats
Push Ups
Tuck Jumps
Spiderman Climb (25 each leg)
Modified Pull Ups (or Body Rows)
Step Jumps (or 25 one legged step ups each leg)
T-Stabilization (25 each side)
Walking Lunges (25 each leg)
Close Grip Push Ups
Squat Jumps

Now if you are new to exercise, you might want to modify this to the Bodyweight 250 and do 25 reps of each exercise. Also, 50 modified pull ups are pretty challenging, so you might want to split them up and do 25 in the middle of the circuit as shown and then finish the circuit with 25 more.

One last thing, the final day to enter Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training Transformation contest is Monday, January 21, 2008. The contest is open only to those who have purchased Turbulence Training, and post their before/after photos on the Turbulence Training Member’s site.

Don’t worry, when you buy Turbulence Training and enter the contest, you get a free 3 month membership so you can record your transformation.

There are 3 big prizes for the winners.

Grand Prize - $2000 & a 3-year Platinum TT Membership

Second Place - $1000 & a 2-year Platinum TT Membership

Third Place - $500 & a 1-Year Platinum TT Membership

So go ahead and take a peek at Turbulence Training and enter yourself in the contest.

And try the Bodyweight 500 workout below. Feel free to post your comments on how you did in the workout.

By the way, the pull-up straps in the video are a piece of equipment called The Jungle Gym and they can be purchased online from Lifeline USA.
