The #1 Worst Sandwich In AmericaNo Comments »

Topics: Abs Nutrition

The #1 worst sandwich in America, according to a Men’s Health article that I read last night, is a grilled shrimp and bacon club from the Cheesecake Factory.

The stats?
1930 calories
24 grams of saturated fat
2965 mg of sodium

Did you realize that when you went out to order a sandwich, it may have almost 2000 calories?

Probably not.

Some other culprits:

Quizno’s large tuna melt – 1760 calories

Applebee’s grilled cheese BLT – 1310 calories

Subway’s meatball marinara footlong – 1160 calories

…and the list goes on

So what does this all mean?  Well it goes back to my theory that we eat a lot more calories than we think we do, especially when we eat out, which almost everyone does.  So why am I telling you this again?  Well a question I keep getting over and over is this:  ”I’m following your workouts and I’m eating pretty healthy, but I’m not seeing results.  I’m frustrated and need help.”

Hey if you’re following my workouts, that’s awesome!  But if you’re just winging it with your diet and are “eating pretty healthy,” that’s where you’re going wrong.  What frustrates me even more is that I’m asked to give advice when I have no clue what they’re eating.  If they are going out and getting a grilled shrimp sandwich from the Cheesecake Factory, well then they just put almost 2000 calories in their tummy.  What I need from someone who wants my help with their nutrition is a detailed 7 day food log specifying exactly what was eaten, what amounts, when, and nutritional information, especially if it’s a boxed or bagged food.

Care to make it super easy on yourself?  If you want to make it super easy on yourself, I would follow The Diet Solution Program from Isabel De Los Rios.  It’s full of meal plans containing whole, natural foods and there won’t be any need to keep a food journal or count calories.

If you follow her eating program and my workouts, I can almost guarantee you’ll get the body you want and a much flatter stomach.  Most of the type of foods in her program are what my diet is based around.  And she makes it super simple to follow her program, so you should definitely check it out.

Have a great weekend!

Scott
