Hi, I've been using a low-grade version of this for a few years: holding hand weights whilst doing push-ups. That helps my wrists, as I have a tendency towards carpal tunnel ache. The rotation element is interesting though! Will have to look for this in the UK. Thank you!

Hi Folks,

Thanks for all the comments.

I wanted to clear up one thing. As Barbara stated, what I tested was called the Push Up Pro. I didn't realize this - I thought I was using the Perfect Push Up. Remember I borrowed these from one of my bootcamp members. ;)

Having said that, the Perfect Push Up and the Push Up Pro are designed to do the same thing (they are both rotating handles). So my analysis of the benefits of using rotating handles compared to doing push ups with your hands on the ground still stands.

So technically I reviewed the Push Up Pro and not the Perfect Push Up. Upon further research, other people have reviewed both and the consensus is that they both do the same thing, however the rotation of the Perfect Push Up is smoother than the Push Up Pro. The Perfect Push Up is also heavier and seems to be better constructed and more durable than the ones I tested. But the Perfect Push Up generally costs more.

I tested the Push Up Pro both on carpet and hardwood floor and it works the same for both.

In case you were wondering, if I end up buying a set for myself, I would buy the Perfect Push Up. I don't mind spending extra when it comes to getting better quality fitness equipment. :)

Hope this helps.

Scott
P.S. Dave - thank you for the very nice comments. I truly appreciate them.

I have a set of these and it really makes a difference. I am 65 and the joints don't move like they used to so not having to bend the wrists back is very helpful and being able to lower myself more helps also. happy holidays

I was wondering about the construction and durability of those. Allergedly a former Seal developed the same thing and sells them

Enjoyed your review, Scott. While looking on-line and on U-tube, there are contrasts between Perfect Pushup and Pushup Pro.... It looks like the ones in your demo are Pushup Pro? Wondering if the surface they are used on, low carpet or hard surface, gives the same result with either tool? Thanks for generally showing that the tool can be helpful for pushups.

Scott,
Thanks for reviewing the "Perfect Push-up". I will feel better about getting them for my 17 year old son who is does push-ups religiously in his workout. I've also looked at a couple of pull-up bars for my son. It would be great if you could review them as well. I want to give him whatever tools might keep him focused on fitness. Thanks for your blog and inspiration.

Scott, your goal setting and achievement is just awesome. I watched as you ran that mile, did your pullups, and pushups. You definitely set many examples for everyone to follow. I absolutely love the route you are taking in life. Don't ever quit. Class ACT!
