ITEM #2
7:19 pm
Neither, actually..lots of sugar in the first one, not to mention some of the other stuff, to many chemicals and food coloring in the second one as well as other stuff.
7:20 pm
i would say food number 1
7:24 pm
I would not want to eat either one because they both seem to have some negative ingredients in them. #1 has HFCS for one thing and #2 has RED and BLUE dyes.
7:26 pm
Bah. That's awful. I suppose if I had to choose, I'd take the first one. I am gluten intolerant, and the first one seems to contain less gluten. Also, pernicious as the ingredients are, at least it doesn't have all the artificial colors in Food #2.
7:27 pm
I would choose to go hungry. Reason #1 HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, Reason # 2 PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED OIL! TRANS FATS are the devil!!! And HFCS is the downfall of western civilization!
7:28 pm
I think #2
7:29 pm
Number 1 is the lesser of two evils because of the rolled oats.
7:34 pm
I would really rather not eat EITHER one. However, I guess it would only be food #2, if I HAD to eat it—like, someone was holding a gun to my head or something. Food #1 has way too many sugars in it, plus it has the dreaded corn syrup.
7:35 pm
I wouldn't eat either one but for the purposes of this question/answer I would choose #1
7:35 pm
#2
7:39 pm
Neither but since I would have to choose I say #2.
7:42 pm
Doesn't sound like yer giving us option #3 NEITHER…so I'd go with #1…
7:46 pm
I'd rather go hungry!
7:47 pm
I'd go with #1. Sugar as first listed item and the additives and colorings in #2 are scary
1:48 pm
Water, please! Both products would elicit some sort of reaction from my system, as they are highly processed and laden with chemicals and dyes. Frankenfood!
7:48 pm
I wouldn't eat either of them. They both sound like cerials. #1 – something along the lines of Honey Bunches of Oats and the other sounds like Fruit Loops. YUCK!
7:50 pm
I'm thinking #2 because you typed it in all caps like a subliminal suggestion that we should be choosing that one.
7:50 pm
Although I wouldn't go for any of those ('cause they seem to be some cereal stuff, which I'm not into), but ifI had to pick one, I wouldn't go for the one whose main ingredient is sugar. I'll have to go for #1.
7:50 pm
#2 because is HFCS in #1 tha tis a no brainer
7:53 pm
#2.
7:53 pm
I would actually not eat either one but if I had to I would pick number 2. Number one is full of fat builders as well as hydrogenated oil. At least #1 has only the PHO to deal with.
7:54 pm
I woudn't eat either.. I am gluten intolerant.. and that includes oats!
7:56 pm
neither, too much sugar and high fructose corn syrup,,,,,
7:57 pm
neither are good, but I would go with number 2.. I wont eat anything with HFCS.
7:58 pm
Ugh! Horrible! I would probably go hungry rather than eat either of those. BUT, if starving I would eat #2. The sugar as first ingredient is deceptive – it's the ONLY time sugar of any sort is listed, whereas #1 has sugar PLUS more sugar in the oat clusters, which also have high fructose corn syrup, honey, molasses, more sugar …. good heavens!
Also, though I try not to eat corn that is not organic (trying to avoid GMOs), at least #2 has whole grain corn and whole grain oat flour.
Yeech, what a choice!
8:00 pm
I would choose #2 no HFCS! Lesser of 2 evils!
8:03 pm
Neither is nutritionally sound. Both have ingrdeients I abstain from completely.
8:05 pm
If I had no other choices to eat, #2 isa bar far healthier than #1
8:08 pm
# 1
8:12 pm
They both look bad! but if choosing the better option, i would say option #2! Just say no to HFCS!
2:12 pm
I don’t know I probably eat both and don’t know it…
8:14 pm
I wouldn't choose either. If I had to guess, I'd say the second list of ingredients is from a cheap brand of instant oatmeal (think Quaker Oats) and the first is some sugary cereal made of corn flakes.
8:15 pm
Neither one but if I have to choose it would be #2, mainly because of the whole grains.
8:17 pm
#2. High fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oil, and artificial flavors all point to #1 as being the worse choice of the two. Whole grains and natural flavors outweigh the problems associated with the artificial colors.
8:22 pm
neither. fake food
8:23 pm
Although sugar is listed as the first ingredient in the second product, the first product has at least 11 forms of sugar. Those added together will do far more damage to your body than the sugar in the second product. I choose product 2.
8:24 pm
#2 As others have said " Neither '…well, I feel the same. #2 seems to be the lesser of two evils though.
8:25 pm
#2, number 1 has way too much sugar
8:25 pm
Sorry Scott, but I would pass on both. To many ingredients, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, blah, blah, blah… Look what you have done to me! Now it has to be SINGLE ingredient food.
2:25 pm
I’m still waiting for the ingredients to food. Those lists are inedible.
8:37 pm
Why must we confined with only two choices ? Both contains bad ingredients, masked among the healthy ingredients. So, I would reject both foods and meditate…
8:38 pm
#2 as others have said – it is the lessor of 2 evils. But I too wouldn't eat either of them.
8:41 pm
The lesser of 2 evils. #1
8:44 pm
Neither
8:49 pm
Yuck to both, but I'm going to say #2 because there are a lot of additional hidden sugars in #1. I sure don't like all the dyes in #2, though.
8:54 pm
Kelloggs smart start vs fruit loops! Neither thanks.
8:57 pm
#2: Because #1 has High Fructose Corn blah blah…
8:59 pm
I choose #1, since it sounds like a granola bar. But my thought is they both could be a cereal. It is terrible that we put this stuff in our bodies, and we wonder why we are overweight, have ADD, headaches, and all the other problems.
9:01 pm
Nr 2, because on nr. 1 you have sugar, high fructose corn sirup, honey, melasse, polydextrose but on nr. 2 there is also a lot of colors…..
9:16 pm
They both have terrible ingredients.
The #1 has so much corn syrup( which is worse than sugar since it breaks down into you body different), poly dextrose, partially hydrogenated soybean oil and BHT.
And #2 PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, BHT, and a lot of Corn product.
If I wanted to try to get cancer and run my body into an early grave, I would eat these up.
9:18 pm
Is this one of those, if you're stranded on a desert island and starving questions? That's the only way I'd eat either one…I'm guessing that #1 is Honey Bunches of Oat and #2 is Fruit Loops, Trix or Fruity Pebbles! From the ingredients (and you'd have to force it down) #1…but only because I'm gluten intolerant (can't have wheat).
9:30 pm
#1 based on the ranking of the ingredients. It starts out with oat bran.
9:42 pm
#2 – both are probably high in caloies, wihmost ofthe alories rom carbs (sgar), but #2 at least has some high fiber ingredients to balance it out.
9:49 pm
I would not eat either (unless I was starving- then I might be grateful for a morsel of that food) and you cannot convince me that eating either one is good for you ever. I avoid HFCS and Hydrogenated oils as much as earthly possible. Is this a trick question?
10:01 pm
I would not touch either one of these. I would starve first!!
10:02 pm
If there is nothing more available #1
10:03 pm
Looks like these are Power Bar and Cliff Bar? Go for #1, less sugar!
10:03 pm
I wouldn't eat either one because I won't eat anything with transfat in it.
4:07 pm
Food # 2
10:19 pm
neither. period. Although it could be that I already DO eat one of them as a guilty pleasure…especially if one of them is honey nut cherrios. Which I eat twice a year.
10:24 pm
neither one sounds very good. Nothing much there that is natural but since sugar is the key ingredient in #2, I'll choose #1.
10:39 pm
That is DIRTY trick to play on us! Only if my life depended on it would I eat #2 (based on what Sharon said, thinking that it was fruit loops. However, if the first one IS Honey Bunches of Oats, I would eat that based on taste. Again, only if my life depended on it. But for your purposes… my vote is #2.
10:44 pm
#1 If I HAD to. I think it's HoneyBunches of Oats or some cereal like that. I dont know what #2 is, some sort of snack cake maybe or pancake batter?
10:47 pm
Neither. The possibility of nuts, and too much crap in both of them.
10:50 pm
I would rather starve to death, however since that isn't an option I would feed half of each to my dog and see which one he chose. Maybe see which one tastes best. What are these things (the first one appears to be a muesli bar).
10:53 pm
My choice is #2, #1 has way too much sugar and not much anything that's good for you.
10:57 pm
mix in some protein powder and I'll take #2 after a workout!
11:08 pm
I'll let you know tomorrow. This has been a very interesting little experiment.
11:08 pm
I'm with Gina. Neither. I'd wait until I had a better option.
11:08 pm
Honey
11:10 pm
List # 1. I misread the first time and picked one ingredient from the list. My bad.
11:11 pm
Both, because I don't care about my health and the way my body looks, I just want to enjoy eating whatever suits my palet. NOT! – I'd choose neither…
11:26 pm
After you body breaks all the ingredients down…they both turn into the same thing with the same effect on your body….Sugar=food coma…I would choose to go hungry.
11:27 pm
Its got to be #2
11:33 pm
I would choose #2 – because #1 has HFCS listed as an ingredient TWICE, has potassium
chloride, polydextrose, and BHT.
The less chemicals in my food, the happier I am.
11:43 pm
Neither one, but if I HAD to make a choice it would be #2.
12:01 am
Neither, way too much sugar and artificial junk!
12:20 am
I'd choose 2 if I had to make a choice, All Caps makes it look worse, but it's not
6:25 pm
Food, if you can callit that, number 2.
12:25 am
Gotta go with 2 Scott. Thae first one has way more undesireable stuff in it.
1:13 am
I have to agree with some above, none, but if I had to choose, number 1, but it has HFCS, but number 2 has blue, red and yellow dyes and partially hydrogenated oils and sugar is the first ingredient.
1:20 am
Neither, but if I had to choose, number 1, but it has HFCS, number 2, has blue, red, and yellow dyes and partially hydrogenated oils and sugar is the first ingredient.
1:28 am
I think Item# 1 the flour flour flour seems to be a bad choice. neither seem to be good choices however but I'm sure you'll let us know!
1:37 am
I don't like either, but if I were starving I would go for no 1, despite the HFCS. no. 2 just has way too many ingredients I can't pronounce and sounds even worse!
1:51 am
Neither. Group 1 contains High Fructose Corn Syrup, and group 2 contains Sugar as its first ingredient. But if I absolutely had to choose one, I would pick #2
1:55 am
I wouldn't eat either one of them!
1:57 am
Food #2
2:02 am
(Scott, how 'bout them Wahoos beatin' up on Carolina!) With my superior Duke education
, I'm guessing it's Smart Start vs. Fruit Loops. Smart Start is much yummier, so I'm going with #1.
2:09 am
# 2
2:15 am
number 2 because no high fructose corn syrup. just sugar. sooo..it's just a smidgen better than number 1. or, it's the lesser of 2 evils.!!
2:49 am
Neither one.
3:23 am
They both sound disgusting, got sick in the stomach reading the ingredients, i choose neither
3:32 am
well i pick number 2 but to tell the truth i would rather starve ….
4:28 am
I'll not go there at all doesn't look good LOL….
7:11 am
I wouldn't go for either BUT if I was compelled to make a choice then I would choose 2 because I don't think that this is quite as BAD – but both are really BAD!!!!
7:36 am
No.2
7:39 am
It is all awful stuff, but for the fun of it I would go for No. 1 as there seems to be less chemistry, which is probably worse than the high amount of sugar.
7:44 am
Neither – because I am on a gluten free diet
and I like straight products
8:09 am
#2
8:12 am
neither unless i was in danger of starving&it would be 2.not as much crap in it!!
8:15 am
I would definitely choose #2 which has the negatives of sugar as the first ingredient, partially hydrogenated oil and added coloring. However most of the other ingredients are whole grain, fiber, natural flavors, vitamins and minerals. Hej, sugar is also a natural ingredient.
Option #1 doesn't have sugar as the first ingredient but the second ingredient, rice is pretty starchy, there is sugar/syrup as a main part of ingredients 2,3,5,6,7,8,9 and 13. The other ingredients are pretty starchy. #1 also has its added vitamins/minerals but that doesn't balance all the other negatives.
10:19 am
Im gluten intolerant too
I couldn't have either one cause of wheat, oats, and flour….sometimes finding anything to eat that comes out of a box is impossible!!! I feel your pain
haha!!
10:19 am
#2 because #1 has HFCS
10:31 am
I would say neither as I have a lot of food intolerances but in saying that, I'm inclined to go for number 1.
10:51 am
#2, because of all the corn syrup in #1
4:57 am
Neither, they sound like crap cereal that is getting passed off as healthy. Can’t wait to hear what they are.
12:26 pm
Since I have to choose one, I would go with #2. #1 has too many nasty ingredients.
2:00 pm
Gail
I would eat group 2
2:47 pm
If I absolutely had to choose between the two I would go with #2. #2 lists what seems to be more wholesome ingredients while #1 seems to be dominated with sugar, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Seems a little over processed. My personal rule is to go with simple ingredients, the fewer the better.
2:57 pm
Looks like sweetened cereal products. All of you who are picking sugar over HFCS are ignorant. They are metabolically the same in the body. I challenge anyone to show proof that HFCS is in any way more harmful than sugar. Neither product is going to kill you, but neither is optimal. A good ol' bowl of oatmeal would be better. Trixs….are'nt for kids anymore.
3:02 pm
I would not eat either one
3:05 pm
Let me guess: #1 is Honey Bunches of Oats which is marketed as a healthy breakfast option and #2 is Sugar Corn Pops marketed as a kids sugar cereal. Neither one is very good for you but looking just at the ingrediants I'd choose the corn pops and stay away from the HFCS.
4:13 pm
haha, you gave us a treaky one, for me, neither of them, just plain water please…..looks like having to choose between being punched on the right or the left eye…..
4:19 pm
I vote for neither.
4:19 pm
neither. Both products contain items I don't want to eat, like sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils…
4:41 pm
I am going to choose food2's ingradiants
5:05 pm
# 1 because of sugar as main ingredient in 2
6:35 pm
#1 i guess
10:21 pm
#2 because of the fiber and mentioned "Whole"
11:20 pm
#2 more whole grain and wheat
12:17 am
# 2 because there isnt any HFCS in it
6:10 am
It's amazing how some people buy all these unhealthy so called food, as far as i am concerned if it comes in a box it's not natural and fresh, i eat natural oats maybe once a week and even then as i'm eating i'm questioning whether its ok, for breakfast sometimes i have low fat cottage cheese, mixed with one small ripe pear, with silvered almonds, or 2 eggs scrambled with tomatoes, garlic, baby spinach all thrown in 2gether, awesome! and no toast
6:50 am
I wouldn't be able to eat either one because I am gluten intolerant but if I had to eat one I would chose the second one because it has less sugar. Either way I would probably be getting gluten.
12:00 pm
I would probably not eat either one, but if no other option would pick item #2
5:19 pm
Food #1
12:23 pm
#2. Although #2 contains sugar as the number one ingrediant, there is no HFCS and Hydronated vegetable oil is used rather than Hydronated Soy, which I think is more harmful. I really wouldn't have either one.
5:45 pm
Liz wrote: I choose #1, since it sounds like a granola bar. That is exactly the point Scott is making… most (all?) granola bars are crap but you have been conditioned to think they are healthy because of the name
